Polished off Grand Saline 59-5, yielding 21 total yards on the night.
Guys on Fox High School Scoreboard just said Newton may be best pound-for-pound team in the state.

I see West Orange Stark gets Jasper in the next round. I went 4th to 6th grade in Jasper, after Conroe first 3 grades. Sports question: one great running back came out of Jasper to play a short career for Coach Royal in mid-50s, leaving early to play baseball-- I think for Cleveland Indians -- Answer: Max Alvis.

I think you can hand the trophy to Newton. Nobody's going to touch them. However, Grand Saline was a rather lame match up to begin with. Not sure if anyone knows this, but, Grand Saline is the only town in East Texas I have ever heard of where a black person has never lived there.

WOS is not their usual selves. Jasper has a shot.

As for Roschon, they also have a good shot but draw Ft Bend Marshall this week. Marshall spent several weeks ranked this year. IF PNG gets past FB Marshall, that could set up a rematch between PNG and Huntsville, who won this game earlier in the season. Roschon was hurt in that game. Texas pledge T'Vondre Sweat plays for Huntsville.

Newton will play Troup on Friday night in Nacogdoches at SFA's Homer Bryce Stadium with a 7:30 pm kickoff.

Senior, UIL, district and military passes honored.
Tickets will be $8 for adults and $5 for students.
Newton will be visitors.
