September Landscapes – Volunteers aren't always welcome

Okay, that one worked. But I have to log out and then log back in to upload another. Those twin trees were a great loss. 2nd and 3rd largest trees on the property.20170921_180633.jpg

As you can see, the oak wilt is significant. It basically surrounds my house 180 degrees from north to south on the east side so it will take several years to replace these trees on my budget anyways. I really appreciate your willingness to help, but the more I think about it the more I think it's a lost cause. Although, if you have a suggestion for a decent nursery I'm all ears. Here in Fredericksburg, everything is priced at a premium because of the tourist industry.

How do you intend to water these? They'll need your help during that first year.

Yes, you definitely have Oak Wilt going on there. It would be best to get those cut down and removed as soon as you can so it will stop spreading. Take the cut down trees to a dump or since you have land, dig a large hole and bury it. But do not burn it as Oak Wilt will spread through the air. So don't use it as firewood, either.

I can get you good pricing at a wholesale nursery in the Austin area. So just need to figure out the transport to your place. You're buying 5 gallon specimens so depending on quantity, you could possibly do this with a pickup.

The difficult thing will be finding 5 gallons. Our nurseries like to sell larger. There is a native Texas nursery on the east side of Austin that I've used who are great to work with. I can arrange purchase and have you pick up or them deliver to you. I also have the option of purchasing from growers.
