Per his Snapchat, sophomore DT Jordan Elliott is transferring out of Texas. Very odd and unfortunate because I expected him to contribute this fall and he logged quality snaps before getting hurt last year.

Kid seems all over the place. Wish him the best though.

Also think Southall transfers with his academic issues. Hopefully they both can get it together. Wish they the best.

Daniel? Why is he transferring?

Its too bad. I thought he had a nice future ahead of him here.

A shame I thought he would be a factor this year.  Maybe the "fat guy" DL comments were more than he could bear.

I could have sworn I heard Herman praise him a few times as well.

Oh well moving on.

could be he doesn't pee like a champion... ;)

I wish him the best. I too thought he could be a stud for UT. Now is a chance for someone else to step up.

Its about time I tried to.post something. I'm quite surprised about Elliott not really surprised about Southall.

I remember after the Orange/White scrimmage that Herman mentioned the 2 sacks by Jordan Elliott and I thought then, "wait until you have seen the film".  It was true he had two tackles at the line of scrimmage but both plays came to him, in other words not due to any great effort on his part.  I watched him closely as the second team would come off the field- he just did not act as though he wanted to be there.  I think mentally, Jordan checked out some time ago.  I would have been very shocked if he and the new coaching staff did not go "head to head" due to his total lack of effort.  If what he showed in the scrimmage is what we had to look forward to in the remainder of his career, I do not feel we have suffered a great lose.  I'd be willing to play a much smaller player with quickness and aggressiveness before a large immovable object.  I think he probably has a ton of talent but until he decides to put it to it's real use, he is not going far.  I hope he wakes up soon.  I expect I will take some heat from this post, but all I ask is take a minute and go back and watch closely his effort in the scrimmage.

The Elliot one is a little shocking, but if he was up to 330+ lbs. I could see Herman not liking what he saw. Southall isn't a surprise.

We are going to need a couple of guys to step big time behind our starting 3. The JUCO guy better come in in shape and ready to go and someone out of Fitzgerald, Christmas, and Daniels needs to step up. Graham has an opportunity if he comes in focused and in shape to play early.

I'm betting this isn't the last we've seen from attrition, I bet 2-3 OL are next.

Watch Elliot's tape. He looks lazy, takes plays off. Guess the coaches saw the same thing this spring and tried to fix it but just couldn't break through. Very high ceiling and showed some great flashes. Wish him nothing but the best. But I don't think the coaching staff is going to worry about it at all. They have a plan. Like Mike said, Alignment.
