Game four in the opening series against Top 25 Rice takes place today at noon. It will be shown on LHN, which is where I will likely be seeing it as I can.

Connor Mayes will get the nod for the Horns on the bump. Getting a win today would be a very big boost to this young team early in the season.

Y'all will have to excuse the coverage today. It will be a bit spotty.

Mayes gets a 1-2-3 T1, capped off by a K.

No score

I was fortunate to get to tune in to most of the first game Saturday and all of the second. It is possible that Rice doesn't have the juice that they usually do, but I liked what I saw from Texas.

One of the little details I noticed was backup. For years, I've wondered why Texas didn't back each other up like their National Championship contenders did. Yesterday, they were already doing it. That is just common sense.

We were also hitting into gaps. Maybe it was Rice's pitchers, or maybe we were lucky, but I think some of it was coaching. If other teams can find our gaps, surely we can occasionally find theirs.

Game time. Hook 'em!

Horns put a runner on 1B in B1, but stranded him.

I'm eating brunch with the fam.

Do any of you find Lowell Galindo really annoying in the booth. The other guys can't get a word in, and I liked Craig and Keith.

Boswell with a very well hit ding dong to right center tires the game at 1 in the bottom of the 5th

I'll be glad when DiCaprio gets out of town as he bangs a hanging duece into the right center field gap for two rbi 3-1 owls in the 6th

Today is sounded like our relief pitching fell apart. I'm not 100% certain as I was having to do grocery shopping for the boy.

The wheels came off in the 6th inning but on the whole this team can throw the baseball. I would have taken a split and ran if offered to me before the weekend so I'm fairly happy. And BTW Rice can play.

Absolutely.  He is a "studio" guy and has no skill doing play-by-play.  He totally disrupts the game with his incessant babble of BS and interviewing Keith and Greg, rather than calling the game.  Please get his ass out of the booth and let Greg and Keith handle it.....  Same when he calls the spring training game...constant BS babble and since the player's names aren't on their jerseys, I have no idea who the players are on the field....

I have never believed a split at home is satisfactory. No matter who the opponent.

After football and basketball; playing toe to toe with a top 25 team and splitting - I will accept.... but I hear you Bear 19.

I understand how you feel. But unfortunately football and basketball have set a low bar.
