2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

I prepared myself very early on for this recruiting class to be "so-so" at best. We have to win on the field before we make a real impact recruiting wise. We have plenty of legit talent on the team to have as much success as we choose... I put all my stock into next years recruiting. Can't wait till the spring to get feedback and even more the fall!!!

Charlie won the recruiting battles in February but not much else. You can only sweet talk recruits for so long before the truth reveals itself on the field.

What was our record when trailing at halftime the last 3 years? I believe it was 1-13 or something close to that. it takes a serious lack of halftime adjustments and coaching to have that shining stat.

Herman will put his Mensa smack down on the field then the recruits will come. I have been saying it since Herman was hired, anyone who thinks Herman was going to land a top 10 class in 2017 has been indulging on too much media and hype koolaid.

I have read the Herman has done a wonderful job on recruiting given the time he had. Well that is surely true but come on UT appeal has hit an all time low for us to be ranked 30ish nationally. I trust Herman will fix it but it wont be until the season starts.

I'm not going to be critical of Herman's class. Charlie's recruiting tactics played against Herman so when he hit the ground in Austin, he had some serious ground to make up. With the big names, it was just too much uncertainty to make the leap.

The biggest reason I'm not worried about this class is because Herman is using it to fill in holes. We already have a VERY talented team, thanks to Charlie's recruiting efforts. The cupboard was left well stocked. Herman has more in place already than he could have wished for at Houston.

We're going to be fine. We didn't necessarily need to blow the doors off this year. We just need to take what we have and win games.

I agree. Herman will change this with the 2018 class. However the rest of the Big 12 just sucks. It also really shows how bad a job Strong did here. Hell he could not even beat these shitty Big 12 teams...

We need to come in next year and beat the brakes off the Sooners. Knock them off the pedestal. You all may not follow some Oklahoma stories but all my friends are fans so came across one today with mayfield putting a osu recruit in his place. Mayfield is a arrogant sob and hopefully Herman repeats what he did at Houston. Long story short I hate mayfield and needa beat the Sooners so those 4 top 100 will come to the good guys.

I'm with you, don't care for mayfield at all. I won't discount his effectiveness, but he does so most often in the most classless way. He hates being hit, so when he's hit, he always pops up talking his head off. Just shut up. You're a QB. No one on the field fears you. lol

I'm hoping our new ILB that hates QB's and RB's can come through untouched and put a violent hit on Mayfield.

Couldn't agree more.

Going to be a "refresh" button kinda day here at work on hornsports! Hope we pull a couple heavy hitters

Chaisson is an interesting player; long and athletic, but undersized for a three down DE at the collegiate level.  Would love to see how this staff would use him as I'm guessing it would be as a hybrid DE/OLB type of player.  Hoping for the best today.
