SignUp Now!Oh yes, Dobbins is an APB that would fit in nicely with Gilbert's offense. And that's a smart move by Charlie to tell the 2017 recruits to not commit yet. Do you feel like Charlie is going to take the same approach with the 2017 recruits like he did with the 2016 recruits?Ok, well, forgive me if this has already been posted. Anyone remember the 8 p.m. thing (NSD) that Malik referred to?
There are two 2017 recruits who were planning to commit to the Horns. Charlie asked them not to, but to let the 2016 class have their day. So it's been postponed to another day. Not sure if that's been planned yet or not.
I was told Dobbins was one of them. He didn't know who the second one was.

Maybe Derrick Tucker or Grayson ReedOk, well, forgive me if this has already been posted. Anyone remember the 8 p.m. thing (NSD) that Malik referred to?

Which part of Texas was he coaching in High School? So I got an idea of who could be the next running back coach,Claude Mathis from SMU. He was coaching high school last year.
It would fit the trend of Charlie hiring Texas High School coaches.

I'm hoping they have as well. Charlie has his own style of recruiting and it actually does workI think so. I just think it's what Charlie prefers to do. And I think he's right when he speaks of a commitment in many cases being just a "reservation." So why go through all that?
You'll have a few who are of the mindset that they can commit and hang up the phone until NSD. Those are the ones we'll collect along the way.
As you can see, when a recruit backs out and goes elsewhere, it looks bad. Make sure they want to be here. And apply the full court press during the last month.
There was a LOT of negative press, in the DMN, in ESPN, and elsewhere prior to NSD about the Horns. There were other schools who typically finish hard late who were sagging in the pack. Well, that was just business as usual. Hopefully, the media has learned the same about Charlie Strong.
Awesome, another coach that can recruit the DFW areaDesoto, I think he was 74-18 in 7 years there.
and more goodwill from the THSCA😎Awesome, another coach that can recruit the DFW area![]()
I think it's safe to say the staff has officially locked down the DFW area in my honest opinion. We did good in the Houston area thoughand more goodwill from the THSCA😎

Where does McGuire hail from? You take Mathis for his recruiting abilities. Not necessarily his coaching abilities. He's not someone I would pick.
I think if you're wanting to go to the high school ranks again, you gotta give McGuire a call again.
And what happened to us potentially getting Tony Levine from Houston? You take Mathis for his recruiting abilities. Not necessarily his coaching abilities. He's not someone I would pick.
