Good afternoon baseball fans.  Looks like the heavy rain has passed for now, and hopefully we can get one or both games in tonight.

Here are the lineups:

Texas Lineup:

7 Johnson

9 Shaw

6 CJ

2 Tres

4 Marlow

5 Boswell

DH Cantu

3 Clemens

8 Gurwitz

RHP French

Kansas State Lineup:

DH Yagi

9 Dalrymple

3 Conlon

5 Serratore

7 Krause

2 Moore

8 Brown

6 Wolfe

4 Wodtke

RHP Griep

Make note of Clemens in at 1B, and Cantu in at DH.  I like this move by the coaching staff.

Looks like the rain is done in CenTex. No puddling on the field, so they should be on-time for first pitch.

This is probably UT's best defensive lineup. Although, don't expect much from Clemens at the plate without a month + to build timing.

I'm curious what, if anything, this means regarding the Sawyer/Clemens/Mayes storyline.

Depending on the system in West Texas, we may or may not get the entire 2nd game in.

I hope it just sits out there and slowly drenches the watersheds up the Colorado River.

Was going to take the kids back to abilene fir the end of spring break kind of glad we stayed home would rather watch it rain from my porch than my dad's

Based on the way that storm is moving, Austin won't see any of that rain. Looks like it'll stay well West and move North.

Tarp is off the mound and they're painting on the Longhorn - it's go time!

Two tidbits from the series preview that are worth re-visiting before Game 1:

Nate Griep has 4 consecutive quality starts and is 3-1 with a 1.84 ERA in those games – also noteworthy, he has 6 or more K’s in each of his 5 starts.
Shane Conlon has reached base safely in all 20 games this season (.457 OBP).
In the 3-hole, Conlon is easily KSU's top offensive threat. If Texas neutralizes him, then the whole Wildcat offense will stall.

Texas in home whites, white caps with burnt orange bills, undersleeves and socks.

KSU wearing their black jerseys, gray pants, black/purple stirrups, black caps with purple front & black bills

E5 starts the game. Always a great way to build momentum - it can only go up from there?

T1

Yagi

1-0 away

2-0 just misses down

2-1 take

E5; Boswell can't make the play as it skips off the top of his mitt.

Dalrymple

1-0 shows bunt, takes a ball low

Checks runner

SAC Bunt; 1-3; 1 out

Runner advances to 2B

Conlon

1-0 up

1-1 swing

2-1 low/away

2-2 fouled up & back

3-2 low/in

Walk on a pitch up

Runners on 1&2

Double play ball would be nice here.

Serratore

Checks runner at 2B

Yagi has been bouncing around at 2B a lot

0-1 fouled away back left

RBI single down 3B line that glances off of Boswell's mitt

KSU up 1-0

Runners at 1&2

Krause

4-6-3 DP

KSU capitalizes on the error, leads 1-0 going B1

That DP ball just showed up one pitch too late.

Two thoughts from T1st:

1. That was a heckuva bunt by Dalrymple. Amazing job to get that down considering he bunted it up at eye level.

2. French pitched Conlon exactly the way he wanted - nothing to hit solidly.

B1

Johnson

1-0 down

2-0 down

3-0 away

3-1 take

3-2 fouled up and back right

Walks on a pitch down/in

Patience with this P may be the order of the day.

Shaw

SAC Bunt U3; 1 out

Johnson standing at 2B

CJ

Checks with no throw

1-0 down

1-1 takes a nice hook; Greip has been trying to get that one in.

F7 in shallow LCF; 2 outs; CJ was just under that pitch

Tres; (sporting a new helmet with a jaw guard

1-0

1-1 takes a curve ball

Bloop finds fair ground in shallow RF, Tres slides safely into 2B as SS couldn't handle the throw from RF.

RBI

Tie Game 1-1
