**FRIDAY THE 13TH Q&A**

Anything football goes.

Will start answering questions in the morning.

Should we all just stay home today? . . .if we were Texas football players I mean.

What non-EE recruits do you think will see significant PT next fall?

Appreciate you for the doing the Q&A

1. What is the status on Merritt's Grey Shirt Situation?

2. Any info on a DL coaching hire?

3. Besides Heard, what Red Shirt from last year could step in & surprise some folks?

Opinions on the progress of our RS OL entering this season: Anderson, Rodriguez...

Granted we will know a great deal more after spring ball but here goes.

The OL has been asked, how does the DL look. . does Vasser step into a starting gig?   Will Hughes really be the Fox?

And your too early guess at the LB 2 deep.

I think many of us would like your thoughts or speculation on Heard during Spring ball.

I think about 3 or 4 will get into the action early and often next season.

Offense it will all about the skills positions.

Gilbert Johnson, John Burt and Ryan Newsome are are sure bets - maybe McNeal. Losing Harris and Shipley will basically put the freshman in by default. That is of course unless a couple of the sophomores step it up.

Defense.. 3-5 freshman.

Du'vonta Lampkin has a shot to prove himself and I'd be surprised if LBs Wheeler and Cherry aren't in on some kind of rotation. Holton Hill and Kris Boyd are too athletic not to have on the field and I think one of them will be starting in South Bend.

1. Depends on final numbers. I think he's still a grey-shirt and the best part about that is, he's cool with it. That being said, I would like to see him not grey-shirted but rather red-shirted that way he can be with the team. Would go a long ways with his development after being a basketball only guy for so long.

2. Strong talked a lot by building a foundation. You do that BRICK by BRICK.

3. Offense - Donald Catalon ... Defense - Might be a reach but I'm going to say Chris Nelson.

Both have good upside to them. As we've seen, Wickline will give everyone a shot. Both with get a shot early at guard but don't seem them becoming starters unless Flowers or Perkins go down - which a OL getting injured is completely possible as we've see before.

DL will be solid. Ridgeway, Ford, Jackson and Boyette will clog the middle.

Vasser will be a starter at DE.

Hughes will be the Fox.

People are sleeping on Heard. He's a pretty darn good QB but for some reason is thought not to be because Swoopes started last season. Texas was able to keep the red-shirt on Heard.. That's huge.

If Texas does indeed go to more of a up-tempo Heard fits the bill.

IMO, Heard will be the starter in the season opener.
