2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

I saw someone thought that it was because  Doug Meacham went to TCU. He would be legitmate option, but it looks like he would have to sit out a year. We need a transfer QB that can play this year.
I agree

We don't need a transfer who can't play right away. I don't see the point in that, especially if he's a character risk like Kenny Trill. No thanks

It's always interesting to see who players start following on Twitter. Most of the time when they start following a coach it's so said coach can direct message them. It's pretty clear Auburn is trying to get back in the game with Mack.

Might as well recruit HS QBs with more talent who can play as RS Freshman than a Transfer who wasn't good enough some place who has to sit. Thats a no-brainer.

We have a JUCO transfer already here, and Gentry coming in, with Heard as the starter...plus Swoopes ( if he actually gets better )..We don't need someone just taking up space when ships and numbers are an issue right now.

We have a JUCO transfer already?

Interesting timing - maybe his plan is to rope-a-dope his dad right at the end?

Jeff Howe says Jefferson told him that  he "can't wait to get to Austin" and wished he could "suit up and play right now."

He also confirmed that he will be moved in and hosting Daylon Mack on this visit

Anymore on the coaching search? I assume something will be announced this coming week with the dead period about to end.

Well, maybe not all of them

Irvin is suppose to enroll at Texas on the 12th. The dead period doesn't end until the 15th and Auburn starts classes on the 14th I believe.

The only way Irvin takes a visit to Auburn is if he decided to not be an early enrollee. I don't see it, but I've seen crazier things happen. If there was more time Auburn might have a shot. I'll get nervous if Irvin changes his timeline.

Marvin Gaye (who I assumed was dead) had an exchange with Hamilton about that^

Looks like UT orientation starts this coming Monday.  And UT registration doesn't end until Friday

ps - Howe too  "In some not-so-good news, I've learned in the last 24 hours that Auburn is being extremely aggressive in regards to its pursuit of Tim Irvin. The person I talked to felt like Irvin still ends up at Texas, but expect there to be plenty of chatter linking Irvin, who does have one last official visit he could use if he wanted, to the Tigers."

ps2 -- And Burton thinks if Irvin visits Auburn, he wont "end up at Texas. But that's a big IF"

On John Burt-- by far the most enthusiastic prospect/recruiting blogger/guru on Burt from the Texas side is Wescott Eberts of BON --

In months, Burt has come from being a raw prospect to looking like a true wide receiver, while keeping all the hustle and toughness attributes that made him so appealing even when his pure skills as a pass-catcher looked more limited on film.

And that combination makes him one of the most important recruits in the 2015 class for Texas closing in on Signing Day -- it's clear there's no replacing him now and early contributions are much more likely at this point with his development.

More praise --

Interestingly enough, Burt's development has mirrored that of Harris, except that Burt is just as physical with less mass and has better quickness than Harris did in high school. So he's basically a better athlete who is starting to develop impressive skills as a route runner, while maintaining the physicality as a blocker and interest in doing the small things to succeed.

Coming out of high school, he's starting to get to the same point it took Harris years out of high school to reach.

In one play on his senior highlight reel, Burt makes a block, gets downfield for another, falls in the process, then gets up anyway and hustles in the hopes of making another before his teammate scores. That's a defining play and it defines Burt in all the right ways.

I got a little teary-eyed watching it.

But where as a junior he was mostly great on those hustle plays and on special teams, he's now showing a deeper understanding of being a wide receiver, perhaps aided by his time at The Opening last summer -- it's like a light flashed on for him at some point in the last several months.

The result is a big, physical receiver who can run comeback routes, break the first tackle, and then outrun the safety to the end zone, go up strong over the middle for catches in traffic made possible by attacking the football with his hands, and beat opponents with his route-running ability coming out of his breaks or simply run by defensive backs who don't completely respect his pure, vertical speed.

In a later piece BON also points out--
And the last part of that may be a key for Burt -- many wide receivers have deserved reputations as divas, but it only takes one conversation with Burt and one look at the junior film that features him making plays on every Lincoln special teams unit imaginable to know that he's not a diva.

I've said from the beginning, if Burt visits in January he's going to be a Longhorn. If he ends up visiting on the 30th, that close to signing day he will be a Horn IMO.

The only problem now is if we will have a scholarship available.
