I always find it interesting how the national media, social media, and fanbases frame the youthful/experienced team narrative. Most people consider A&M to be a very young team while Ole Miss and Miss. State are considered experienced teams. Ole Miss starts 15 upperclassmen, Miss. State starts 19, and A&M starts 16.

Really there isn't a gap in experience between A&M and Texas. Texas also starts 16 upperclassman. Matter of fact, Texas only starts 8 seniors compared to A&M's 10 (that includes Hicks who is most likely coming back). If anything Texas is younger than A&M.

I just found this interesting, because it seems like the narrative is Texas is experienced and A&M is young.

the narrative is we're experienced? every game highlights the O/Line and 'the most experienced guy has 8 starts'. Swoopes is barely out of diapers.

honestly i didn't know there WAS a narrative about our team.

Our upperclassmen haven't progressed much in their tenures at A&M and still make the same mistakes that were blamed as youth-based.

You would think that's the case but isn't. Twitter, sports forums, etc I continually see narratives framing Texas as experienced.

I see a much more talented and experienced defense for Texas. 3-4 draftable defensive players and a DL that is probably the best in the Big 12. Not sure there is tons of talent waiting in the wings though on defense.Defensive coaching will be key in 2014-2015 to Strong's tenure.

Mike, what is the rank-and-file Ag's opinion of Sumlin? He obviously had the Midas touch year one, but the shine seems to be dulling a bit in years 2 and 3. What say you ?

Many posters on TexAgs have started calling Sumblin "Black Mack", which is really insulting to Brown since he's never won a conference title.
