No beer at DKR in 2014

It isn't about beer. If some fans are responsible enough to be able to enjoy a beer at a game, why are the majority being denied the same treatment? The answer is money. Wealthy fans are allowed to have a beer, but the great unwashed masses aren't worthy of such simple pleasures.

Either we are all respected as fans or we aren't. If Patterson allows wealthy fans one standard, he can call on them to fill the stands. If 70,000 fans are going to be treated as second class fans, we have every right to show up late, leave early and let Patterson explain to broadcasters, advertisers and recruits that the second class fans aren't important to the program.
Look man this life .... for example ... many times I have wanted to sit in first class on a plane and have more leg room and be treated like a king... but I make a decision that paying for first class ticket is not worth it for the price... but I don't hold it against those that do. They pay for the extras

In everything you do in life if you want extras or luxury you have to pay for it..

With that said I don't have a problem with them serving beer to everyone at the game and they will probably do that in 2016...

The AD needs to unify the fanbase. If the 70,000 fans aren't "worthy" of equal concessions, the 70,000 fans need to show up late and leave early. The rank and file shouldn't have to do crap that isn't in the best interest of the program to have equal access to concessions.

If Patterson wants to wait until 2016 to deliver for the fans he holds in contempt, the fans he holds in contempt can wait until 2016 to support Steve Patterson and those who hold them in contempt.

I was going to respond to you... but I'm done... have a good day

Steve gives a crap about 30,000 fans. That is it. He has shown he isn't going to deliver for the loyal fan, just the wealthy fan. It is bullsh!t to treat wealthy fans one way and treat loyal fans differently.

Yes, I am vocal about how things are because this time of transition is the best time to advocate for change. We hope the program will change for the better without having to go through the experience of the wealthy treating the majority of the fanbase like sh!t. But, it us what it is.

this doesnt bother me in the least.   probably half the people at that game have lubed up at a tailgate or pre game tent party or the exes bldg or scholz's.  there are a whole lot of people in that stadium who flat don't need another beer.   nothing worse than sitting or standing next to a drunk at a football game.

you really do need to chill out randolph.  your rants at patterson have become pretty tiresome.

Then take alcohol sales away from everyone and treat everyone equally. (Oh, HELL no, that would be out of the question! Could you imagine the reaction to such a proposal?!)
One issue is that they want a unified fanbase but they treat part of the fans one way and the rest of the fanbase another way. The other issue is they want to enhance the fan experience, yet they deny the majority of the fans what the elite are allowed to have.

If Bellmont wants the fans to show up early and stay late, Bellmont needs to do something to enhance the game day experience of the rank and file fan other than just raise ticket prices.

You rag on me for giving Patterson crap, but what has Patterson delivered? He has delivered practically nothing.

randolph, what it wrong with you.. have you lost your mind?  steve patterson, as you should be well aware, has been trying like crazy to acquire beverage sales at DKR, as well as all applicable facilities. every time he moves forward, cigarroa or someone upon the upper echelons of management stops him in his tracks... and then he is forced to compromise to a lesser degree.  this cycle has been repeating itself every since steve has arrived.

somehow, i feel that this is one of the primary reasons that powers and cigarroa are often at each others throats.  the chancellors, constant meddling vs micromanagement tactics are becoming quite bothersome to many decision makers.

I don't need no beer to watch a good game of football.......now a little distilled beverage would help with my eyesight......

Results are what matter. So far we have heard that we don't understand how difficult it is for Steve Patterson to cut the bloat inside Bellmont. We have been told the ineptness is systemic and change can't be expected soon.
Now we are being told Patterson isn't going to be able to deliver on changing the game day experience. It seems the only thing that can't be delayed is the increase in ticket prices.

Steve Patterson has made it clear he is the AD for 30,000 fans who pay big bucks and the rest of the fans don't matter. The rest of the fans can take that to mean Steve Patterson isn't an AD that cares about them.

It is legitimate for the fans Steve Patterson has abandoned to abandon Steve Patterson. Either he delivers something for the fans, or the fans should abandon him.

Good gawd duke. You can't be this upset over this. You just can't
I'm upset that Patterson, who is pulling down $1mil+ is failing to deliver, yet a flood of excuses somehow makes his failure to deliver acceptable.

It is as if no one related to the program cares any more. As I have said numerous the times before, where is the excellence in the program? The UT game day experience is on no sports fan's bucket list and no one cares. And that is ok with Steve Patterson because he only cares about 30,000 fans.

Randolph Duke said:
Steve Patterson is a loser. It was his job to deliver for the fans and improve the game day experience. So far all we can depend on is higher ticket prices and a fan base where some are treated more equal than others. I hope the 70,000 fans being given the finger show up late and leave early. Screw you, Patterson.
RD, you think Patterson is a Dave Brandon 2.0?

Beer at DKR is hardly a litmus test for Patterson.

Duke, you've entered the 'trying too hard' zone. You don't like much of anything relating to our athletic dept currently and that's fine. But your 500 word essays about every perceived failure seem contrived.
Where has Patterson improved Bellmont and where does Bellmont exemplify excellence?

I may not agree with everything Duke says but I appreciate his efforts. This board would be a bit boring without him.

Maybe you need to step away from the ledge. All you have done lately is bitch and moan about what a shitty job Patterson has done so far.

Here's a thought; give up your day job, put your money where your huge trap of a mouth is, and get your butt over to the 40 and start providing them all the answers that you seem to hold in your finger tips?

Why waste your bitching on a board with a small following? If you're going to shout from the rooftops, it would behoove you to do so from a platform higher than this.

Make an appointment to have lunch with Steve. Hell, why not just ask to have a few minutes with the BOR?

You are pretty vocal about how miserable things are. Get off your ass and do something about it.

"Beer at DKR is hardly a litmus test for Patterson."

This pretty much sums up this thread. Ironically, I think RD might need a beer.

I'm happy with what Patterson has done thus far.

1) Patterson didn't listen to the nut jobs that wanted every coach fired. I'm guessing RD was part of the faction that wanted Barnes and Augie fired. Sometimes doing nothing is the right move. This is the case here. Both the basketball and baseball programs have tons of momentum right now because Patterson didn't feed into the trolls that wanted every coach fired.

2) I love that Patterson is vocal on important issues. If you are going to be a university that leads you can't sit in the shadows.

3) Patterson was able to broker a deal where the Texas basketball team plays in China. This was a huge marketing move.

4) Patterson has made some nice moves to keep assistant coaches like Hebert in golf. Several big time programs were after Hebert.

5) Patterson has begun discussions on DKR expansions and renovations. These things don't just happen instantly.

6) Texas is still the most profitable brand in college athletics. Patterson hasn't done anything to screw that up.

I could continue. It's absolutely laughable that you are judging Patterson on beer sales.
