  1. Astros will kick off the MLB shortened 60-game season on July 24th, hosting the Mariners at Minute Maid Park. Game time is 8:10 PM Central. With a shorter season, and likely one of the few sports that are going to be on, I expect viewership to be very solid.

  3. Ok boys & girls, who's tuned in to Game 7 tonight, and what are your predictions?
  4. Way too young to leave this world at 24. Kid was a phenomenal pitcher and a good person. RIP José.
  5. Over the course of the three-day MLB draft, four Longhorns heard their names called. Tres Barrera, Ty Culbreth, Morgan Cooper and Bret Boswell were all given the opportunity to continue their dreams of playing baseball at the professional level. Not sure if all will sign. Barrera went first when the Washington Nationals selected him in the sixth round. Barrera is the first Longhorn catcher since Cameron Rupp to be taken within the first 10 rounds - the Phillies took Rupp in the third round in 2011. Barrera finished his junior year at Texas with a .289 batting average, starting in all 57 game
  6. So, at minimum a playoff with the Angels for Wildcard on Monday. They're still a year ahead of schedule, and I don't think they're ready for an extended post-season run, but this is a great experience for their young guys.
  7. Seriously? With all the baseball guys we have over here and there's not a World Series thread? OK, Game 2, Royals just took the lead on the Giants in B6, 3-2. Discuss.
  8. Thoughts? http://www.wfaa.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/10/16/breaking-rangers-hire-jeff-banister-as-manager/17354573/ The man who steps into Ron Washington's position has large shoes to fill, and the Rangers front office believes Jeff Banister is that man. The Rangers were managed by Ron Washington for most of the last eight years as he became the franchise's all-time winningest manager. The man who steps into his position will have large shoes to fill, and the Rangers front office believes Jeff Banister is that man. He received a multi-year contract, according to a statement from t
  9. Is the MLB All Star game the best of the professional "All Star" games? I think so.
  10. I'm in the process of adding rookie cards to my collection. Any other rookies I should buy besides Springer and Abreu?
  11. I would post tweet but on mobile. Per Darren Rovell, Bobby Bonilla is the 12th highest paid player on the Mets payroll. Bobby Bonilla's Wikipedia: Mets let go Bonilla prior to 2000 season. They agreed to terms that Bonilla be paid 1.19 million a year until 2035. Smart agent.
  12. He threw another no-hitter!!! No-hitter 2 years in a row! I'm so happy for him! I had him washed up after the 2011 season. His velocity had diminish and thought no longer starting pitcher and immediate mid-reliever pitcher.
  13. Just saw this and found it interesting: Tim Kurkjian on ESPN just said the following: Batting average this year in MLB is .249 It was .262 five years ago. The month of April had the most 1-0 games than any month of April in Major League history. One day last week, 10 starting pitchers worked at least 7 innings and gave up 3 hits or less, again, never been a day like that in MLB history. Most MLB pitchers are throwing 95 MPH with two secondary pitches that are really good; not just out of starters, but relievers as well. ************************************* I find this quite interestin
