Although Lampasas senior Ace Whitehead is a member of Texas baseball's 2021 signing class, he has talent on the football field as well. In 2020, Whitehead led Lampasas to the area round of the high school football playoffs before losing to Corpus Christi Miller. However, Whitehead has been one of the state's most electric football players during his high school career.
Senior Season Statistics (Via: MaxPreps)
- Offense: 1,993 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 978 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
- Special Teams: 62/67 on point after attempts and 3/3 on field goal attempts with a 46 yard season-long.
What stands out about Whitehead as a quarterback is his ability to accurately throw the football. Whether Whitehead is throwing a quick pass or a deep ball, you can count on him to hit his target. According to MaxPreps, Whitehead has a career completion of 67.5%, which is a testament to his accuracy.
In addition to Whitehead's passing ability, his speed as a runner is also impressive. Whitehead was frequently able to find the edge on read-option plays and designed quarterback runs. After finding a running lane, Whitehead seemed to find his way to the end zone more often than not. Additionally, Whitehead was accustomed to moving the chains with his legs when the pocket collapsed.
In the fall, Lampasas was able to play in 10 games. Now, in the spring, Whitehead is starring for the Lampasas on the baseball diamond. After Whitehead graduates from Lampasas, he is committed to join David Pierce and the Longhorns baseball program.
