College football has long been the breeding ground for the best young talent, and plenty of us love to watch the leagues and see who we think will be the next big stars to graduate to the NFL. College football games are keenly followed across the US and many fans attend games in person, along with all the scouts looking for the best young talent and seeing how they want to use their draft picks.
Many like to be able to predict how football is going to pan out, and you may be the sort of person who enjoys checking out the free college football picks for seeing who to gamble on, or which teams are best, or which players are coming through the ranks. In this guide, we are going through the top picks and players to watch throughout the 2022-23 season.
Bryce Young, quarterback, Alabama
This guy won the Heisman Trophy last time out, so we simply had to include the young quarterback on the list. He was in incredible form in the SEC and created 47 touchdowns with almost 5,000 passing yards.
Alabama will be looking to continue their ascent and become one of the very best college teams once again, and this guy is bound to be a big part of that. He has lost some of the support in the Alabama team to the draft, but there are still plenty of receivers to work with.
Will Anderson Jr., linebacker, Alabama
This guy is going to be drafted to the NFL, and he is going to be one of the first names drafted. He’s an amazing prospect and another playing for Alabama’s Crimson Tide. He’s an incredible rusher and is so hard to block, racking up 31 tackles for loss and 17 sacks in the season just gone.
As we’ve already mentioned, a lot of the players for Alabama are changing and the rebuild is going to be interesting to watch. Anderson Jr. will be a key part of this.
Bijan Robinson, RB, Texas
Another for the prospect list. Bijan Robinson is a real physical specimen at RB, with a huge amount of power and plenty of scrimmage yards in his locker, plus 15 touchdowns in 2021 – even though he didn’t play every game. The halfback recently signed a deal with Lamborghini, and this is very appropriate, considering the way he plays and the cuts he makes from downfield.
Robinson will definitely be a Heisman Trophy prospect and this could be his final season for Texas, so he will potentially go on to bigger things in the NFL.
Caleb Williams, QB, USC
We all love to see new exciting quarterbacks coming through the ranks and Caleb Williams fits the bill. Lincoln Riley will be rebuilding the team around him, after he made a name for himself as a freshman in Oklahoma. He threw nearly 2,000 yards, rushed over 400 and was responsible for a very respectable 27 touchdowns.
WIlliams can throw the deep ball and is happy running if there is a lane available, and Jordan Addison will help him to be at his best, and most effective, playing for USC this coming season. Williams is one that the scouts from the big leagues will be watching with a lot of interest.
Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU
Kayshon might get overlooked by some, as playing for the Tigers, he was in an underachieving team and then he had to deal with an injury that left his season in tatters. He still managed 38 receptions in that time for over 500 yards, so don’t discount him as one of the best prospects for college football in 22-23.
LSU knows how to create some wonderful receivers, as we all know from the likes of Odell Beckham Jr. and Ja'Marr Chase, who have come through at the college establishment. Kayshon Boutte could certainly continue this awesome lineage if he is able to stay free of injuries and live up to the expectations.
The standard in college football feels like it keeps getting better, and you just know that a lot of these guys are going to go on to have long and illustrious careers playing in the NFL. The Alabama team is one to watch with interest, but there are plenty of players in plenty of rosters who could emerge as huge prospects in the world of football, in what is sure to be another great season.
