After suffering a shoulder injury in the Alabama game, the status of which has been kept relatively quiet, starting Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers appears to be ahead of schedule as it pertains to his recovery.  Ewers missed the UTSA game last week but there was speculation that his progress was moving faster than most anticipated.  At his game week availability on Monday head coach Steve Sarkisian informed the media that "all" quarterbacks practiced that morning.  And by "all," he included Quinn Ewers and freshman quarterback Maalik Murphy who was also previously injured.

Fast forward to Thursday and Sarkisian had more positive news related to Ewers and his cadre of quarterbacks.  Sarkisian told reporters in a post-practice ZOOM availability that four quarterbacks would be making the trip to Lubbock for the team's Big 12 opener against Texas Tech on Saturday.  This includes Quinn Ewers, Hudson Card, Maalik Murphy and Charles Wright.

Whether or not Sarkisian has enough confidence in the health of Ewers' shoulder to give him the starting nod on Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium remains to be seen.  But the good news for Texas fans is that even if Ewers isn't 100%, his shoulder injury appears to be healing much faster than the reported four to six week timeline.

Should Ewers not start in Lubbock, expect to see Hudson Card who led the team to a 41-20 victory over UTSA last weekend under center for the Longhorns.

The game gets underway at 2:30 PM on ESPN.
