Despite the 2022 season not being over, the Texas baseball staff is already beginning to peak ahead to the 2023 season and beyond. The Longhorns picked up a commitment from LHP David Shaw out of the portal on Monday evening.
Shaw, who just wrapped up his freshman year at Rice, threw 37 innings in 2022. He struck out 28 batters and allowed 20 walks with an ERA of 6.57. He stands at 6'7 and was ranked as one of the top left-handed pitchers in the state in the 2021 class coming out of Kinkaid High School in Houston. Shaw threw against the Longhorns earlier this season, allowing 4 runs in .2 innings.
