  2. Lesson learned. Respect your opponent but never let him intimidate you. Play with confidence no matter where the field of battle is. Take it to your competition and never let up. Play well for 4 quarters in every facet of the game. Have a strategy but be willing to adjust it if necessary. All of this to say congrats to Michigan a true blue blood program that has finally been delivered from the wilderness and are now relevant in college football again. My prayer is that we see the same for our beloved Longhorns. Live long and hook’em horns.

  3. We are 8-4 with an outside chance to go to the big 12 championship. Let’s go KU! I thought about being critical about some things but I’m going to enjoy this. We ran the damn ball the last two games and rode our stud RBs. This should’ve been the game plan all season but for many reasons wasn’t. This line can run block much better than pass block. This was progress from last year yet we left so much to desire and could’ve won a few more games in a down year for the Big 12 overall. We played as good as a top 5 team in many games but also played like a bottom half of the big 12 team many times too. The future is bright. It’s bright at every position from what I can see. There will be some holes to fix but we have much better talent and are utilizing them in ways we haven’t since 2009.

  4. So if we back in, we should do what? Decline the appearance. The system is set up for the two teams that do the most throughout the entirety of the season to play for the championship. If we win and KSU loses, we will be one of those two teams. I for one would be thrilled to get another shot at TCU for the title. If we win, it won’t be like we are claiming an Aggie type banner, we will have won it on the field. If that happens, I’d bet there are more than a few Longhorn fans that won’t care how we got into the game.

  5. Big win yesterday that the team and fanbase needed. I was stressed out yesterday watching and found myself caring more than recently. Why? Because we were playing for something. After a 5-7 season last year, we’ve improved to 8-4 (where a lot of us thought we’d be) and having a chance to go to Arlington. Do we need help tonight? Sure. Did we lose control over going to Arlington because of shooting ourself in the foot earlier in the season? Absolutely. Was I frustrated throughout the season? Of course I was. I want to effing win. But did I see some progress this season? Hell yes, I did. It was a young team, especially on offense and not just at QB. You get inconsistency when you rely on young players, and hell yes that inconsistency frustrates us. But that doesn’t mean burn everything down to the ground, fire a coach, and start all over again. Sark had his fair share of issues this season, but he’s also shown some growth as a coach and play caller. He’s learning from his mistakes earlier in the season. In that Baylor game, what did he do? They were plugging up the middle, so he started calling plays to get his runners on the outside. He called a delayed run for QE3 at the goal line because the defense wasn’t expecting it. He tried to get the passing game going later in the game, but the O-line was getting destroyed and QE3 wasn’t handling the rush well, so he put the ball back in the hands of his RBs and made it simple for his struggling O-line: just run block. I’d love another shot at TCU because I know we can give them a game if given the chance. If we don’t get that chance though, we have a chance at 9 wins in a bowl game. That’s progress and I’ll take it, but to be clear, I’m expecting more next season. More from QE3. More from Sark.

    Worthy hitting the portal?

And...it's always taken as truth by far too many. I am heading to Houston to check that out, though.

  9. I certainly wouldn’t say that Ewers sucks… hopefully it was obvious I was quoting you - and you were characterizing posts you don’t care for. That said, I am not nearly as high on Ewers as most on this board. As a matter of fact, I think he played 5 really good quarters all year (OU, plus 1 against BAMA). Outside of that, his play hampered the offense. In other words, Sark cannot run his offense how he’d like to because of the play at QB. Ewers should certainly have been replaced against OSU and TCU in an effort to get a W. Why he wasn’t is unfathomable IMHO. And also in my opinion - minus five quarters, Card was a better option. I get Sark wanting a QB who has the tools to better run his system… so I understand his proclivity to keep Ewers as starter. I’ll conclude with a question - and allow you to answer without a rebuttal. If Ewers last name was Wright… starting without the HS accolades (10.0 rating, etc…) and you were simply going by what you saw this year, would you feel the same? Or might you join me in suggesting that maybe he should have been replaced? I concede the point that Sark knows what he’s doing… certainly knows his players better than you or I… these are the ravings of a fan. Nothing more or less.

  10. Sigh whatever. I don’t lump the Sark era in with Mack’s last years, Strong, or Herman. What happened then has only soured some of our fans. When Sark took over this program, it had culture problems. It was also very under developed and under recruited in the offensive line. Not a lot of quality depth in many positions. We have seen this team become more physical and tougher on both lines of scrimmage this year. Starting two true freshman lineman, basically a freshman QB has led to some growing pains. This bodes well for next couple of years, as the younger more talented recruits continue to fill in, grow and develop. Nothing is ever perfect, and I am a long term fan of this program. I attended my first game in 1977 and watched Earl Campbell live, so I have seen many highs and lows. Bottom line we are recruiting at a high level, however unlike past regimes we are building from the line of scrimmage out. The development of the Lines will be key to the continuing rise of this program, and seems like this entire staff is embracing that.

  11. I have always said that it was a mistake for Ewers to skip his senior year in high school. No one has ever convinced me otherwise.

  12. Michigan is showing the importance of that big offensive line. I feel a lot better with coach Flood and our young guys.

  13. Texas fans (me) need to have more patience but I think the last 12 years of mishaps have worn thin on our patience. I just want to see improvement and we have seen improvement since Sark has been there. With the way he is recruiting we should continue to see improvement. We’re going to need it to compete in the SEC. Just like everyone was ready to get rid of PK but he has made our defense alot better. Still have to keep getting better but we’re recruiting better players so we should be up from here.

  17. Honestly some of my friends can’t stand Sark. I do not understand why because he fits this job well from a PR standpoint. Mack was good at it. Charlie just looked lost. Herman was an asshat I think Sark is going to make it. He recruits well and once our OL is matured this offense will be a beast with the right QB

  18. All, I hope they redshirt Arch. Most successful QB’s are redshirted, for example, Colt and Vince. The extra year of strength training and maturity also helps protect them from injury. 82Horn, I was trying to make the point that Ewers is a Freshman according to age, but according to eligibility, he moved ahead. I don’t think that I can make that clearer. I believe the senior year of high school is very important for numerous reasons. Most people need the senior experience, athlete or not. Hook em!

  20. Nobody is saying we back. There has been noticeable progress in building for the future, and we don’t lose a ton. I think 10 wins next year is a reasonable assumption, and if Bijan comes back could have a higher ceiling. Realistically I think when offensive line and line hit Junior years we will seriously contend for a title. As early as 2024 we could be really salty with quality depth up and down the roster. List of positions that showed improvement from 21 to 22 is long. I think Receiver and QB have some growth and development to come. DB as well. RB, DL, LB, and OL have been the strength of this team. And both sides of the line have some major growth coming as well. Certainly cause for optimism.

  24. Great game ! Second half adjustments made by Sark, Ewers looked good, defense dominated. Lots of progress made this year. And if by chance Kansas wins tomorrow, we beat TCU by 14.

  25. fyi, it is really interesting when you put JD on ignore, his propensity to post multiple times with no response from anyone is highlighted. At one point I counted seven in a row, with no intervening response. I didn’t click, so I have no idea if he was arguing with himself or blowing his horn, but that is the definition of internet clutter. No doubt that is one of the reason’s that Shaggy banned him after 4 days. Four days!!! That is embarrassing. Happy Thanksgiving to all! btw, is it true that the Aggys have only won 4 games, including the cream puffs on their schedule? Guess they will need to hire a national championship winning coach to get out of this mess. Oh, wait, they already did that! Hook ‘em!

  26. Not true. It will mean we, Texas, won the necessary games to play in the championship while Kansas St didn't.

  27. Texas linebacker commit Liona Lefau and the Kahuku (HI) Red Raiders will play for a ninth state title at Mililani (HI) High School on Friday at 7:00 p.m. I live so close to the Mililani HS stadium that I can hear every game from my porch. I guess I know what I will be doing friday night. Gonna go all decked out in my Longhorn gear.

  29. Gotta love how all those folks (you know who they are) crapped all over Sark about not being able to adjust after halftime aren't giving him any credit for the adjustments in this game. As talented as DJ Campbell is, he played poorly at first, but did get better as the game wore on. Some of yall need to chill out and realize it's a process with all these young players and we will get better as time goes on and they get more experience.....

  32. Well, the consensus was 8-4 for the year and we've achieved that with a chance to go 9-4 and maybe 10-4 if KU pulls off a miracle. Nice year overall. Should have beat Tech though we were without our starting QB and starting DT for that game. Still went to OT with them. And we did this with a bunch of freshmen getting serious PT. Things look good moving forward.

  33. Good gritty win and great progress by this team and coaching staff. Each loss was close which indicates they're getting closer to their ultimate goal. Literally a few plays away from a 10+ win season. Another top recruiting class this year, and I'm highly encouraged for the future.

  34. Unfortunately there is a much better chance of us losing to Baylor than Kansas beating Kansas St. Better come ready to handle our own business.
