Myles Turner is headed to the NBA

He's gonna need it.

I can't blame the kid for taking the money but he's a couple years away from being even close to ready at that level.

One thing I agreed with Barnes on is giving Turner less minutes towards the end of the season. Kid has potential but he was completely lost on both ends of the court at the end of the season.

It will be interesting how it plays out with Turner. He has all the skills to be a great player but he's awkward as hell in terms of movement. I'm not sure that's something he can fix either.

From a G.M.'s perspective, I'm not sure there's game tape that justifies Turner as a lottery pick. Other than size/length, what did Turner show that can help a team win next season?

I agree. He's tall and has a decent shot which is hard to find. It's just a projection pick, there's nothing on the tape that justifies it.

I sure as hell wouldn't take him. IMO he's an injury waiting to happen with how awkward he moves.

Was he a projected lottery pick out of high school? If not then how is he now?

He was the #2 player coming out of HS and from what I remember, they were projecting him to be a lottery pick early in the season. Of course, that could have changed and I think he should have stayed at least 1 more year but he never called for my advice.

Had Texas done better in the tourney...won a couple, made the Sweet 16...and Barnes not been let go...I wonder if

Turner would still be opting to go pro after one year? I guess I just wonder if his leaving is more because he's miffed

about the dismissal of Barnes. Seems like he'd at least wait to see who the new coach will be...the hire is supposed

to happen quickly...and it could be a really good coach.  I guess we'll see.

Neither talked about it on record, but Turner and Barnes didn't share the same opinions very often.

Rarely do NBA draft picks knock it out of the park their first year. Joel Embiid, 3rd overall pick last year, hasn't played all year for the 76ers. ALL YEAR for a terrible team. Jabari Parker was good before the injury and Andrew Wiggins is lighting it up but those were the top 3 picks.

Myles is likely going barely in the lottery. Right now slotted at #12. Last year's #12 went back to europe and the #12 overall in 2013 (Steven Adams) averaged 7.8 ppg and is a consistent off the bench guy.

$2.4 million guaranteed is a lot of money and I don't blame a kid for striking while the iron is hot.

Underachieved at Texas even though just a frosh. I thought Avery Bradley going pro early was ridiculous but he has proved me wrong after a few seasons of professional coaching. Turner needs to get stronger and stop the poor decisions with bad passes and losing the ball from his hands to succeed. With that said, can someone offer me a couple million to bail out of my job please! These guys have the ability to make more money riding the bench for a season than most can make in over a decade...crazy, but a no brainer. So who gets the open scholarship? Or were we expecting attrition and it is already accounted for? Any info on the transfer Shaq Cleare and his ability or success in practice this past season?

It's going to be several years before he sees an NBA court.  It will be interesting to see if he has what it takes to work himself out of the developmental league.  I have my doubts.  Rick Barnes did him no favors for sure.  But it's a shame he will waste the opportunity for a new coach/staff to develop him into a college to NBA player.
