Been a while since we've had a BBQ thread.  Last night I put a 13# brisket on the pit, and today, added 4 racks of St. Louis style ribs.  Key to the ribs was, I got a tip from a buddy, NorthTexasHorn, to add Whataburger Honey Butter to the final step of the ribs.  I must say-AWESOME!  I still used the Salt Lick Garlic Rub on the ribs.  Nice mix of spice to sweetness.

Here are the  pictures.

Weather last night was mid 40s, calm, a bit of rain on and off.  I was out in the pit with the dog, a bit of Austin's KOKE FM streaming, some Willet Rye in the glass, and a nice Cuban cigar to keep me company.

Have any specific questions, fire away.

I'd really like to hear what kind of ways you've prepared ribs that may be a bit different, and what your thoughts of the finished product were.

Best BBQ in Texas? Country Tavern on Hwy 31 between Tyler and Kilgore. Never eaten better

ribs, ever, anywhere, anytime. And I've been around FWIW.

EDIT: This topic is about cooking BBQ, not where the best can be bought. I apologize for

intruding and digressing. I recommend the Country Tavern for "store bought" though.

There are no rules here.  This is a good place to chew the fat, (so to speak,) and discuss BBQ, whether homemade or store bought.  I appreciate the input.

1. Jeff, Canyon Lake is calling, get out.

2. Johnny Trigg has used Parkay and Honey for years along with the 3-2-1 method.

3. No disrespect to Stanley's but Country Tavern is the best. Does Stanley's have pictures of ex- Presidents and Robert Duvall on the wall? I don't know, maybe so.  To be fair I've never eaten Stanley's ribs but CT's are mighty fine.

BBQ sauce(on anything) is like watching somebody put store brand ketchup on a Filet Mignon.

SF,

Years ago, when I was stationed in Pleiku in Vietnam, I used to buy this extra spicy chicken pho whenever I went into town for "cultural exchanges". In all the years since, I have yet to find that exact kind of pho, and it's not for lack of effort. The lady I used to buy it from just called it Chinese soup. It was loaded with dried red peppers. It always made my nose run, but it was addicting.
