2016 recruiting

Currently we have 2 commits in Colin Johnson and Reggie Hemphill (both 247 top 150 players)

QB offers: Malik Henry (committed to FSU), Shea Patterson, Shane Buechele and Dwayne Haskin. Shane Buechele is the lowest rated QB out of that bunch per 247 but I actually like his film the most.

RB offers: Kyle Porter. 100 percent of the crystal balls are currently  for Texas.

WR offers: Devin Duvernay, Mykel Jones, and Trey Nixon. Not sure we take many more WRs with Johnson and Hemphill both in the fold.

TE offers: Kaden Smith. Looks like a Bama, Stanford and Texas battle at the moment.

O-line offers: Gregory Little (committed to A&M), Patrick Hudson (Baylor), Ben Cleveland (Georgia), JP Urquidez, and Parker Boudreaux. Urquidez seems like a Baylor and Texas battle, but I think we cooled on him to be honest.

Defensive end offers: Mark Jackson, Justin Madubuke, and Joseph Jackson. All 3 are damn good. The DE class looks loaded in 2016 if  you ask me.

Defensive tackle offers: Ed Oliver, Derrick Brown, Kendell Jones, and Michael Williams. The DT class is deep in 2016 also.

Inside LB offers: Demarco Boyd. Texas has a great shot to land him. I actually think he will commit before long.

Outside LB offers: Erick Fowler and Jeffrey McCullough. Texas seems to have a decent shot with both. Fowler is a perfect hybrid WDE/outside LB fit for Strong.

Safety offers: Brandon Jones, Deontay Anderson, and Eric Munroe. The 2016 safety class is loaded. Like 6 or 7 elite safetys in Texas alone IMO.

Athlete offers: Christian Wallace (TCU commit) and Devwah Whaley. Texas is recruiting Whaley as a RB I believe and Wallace in the secondary. I personally like Porter more at RB over Whaley.

Not sure how I feel about recruiting in Texas in 2016. I think it's very top heavy and elite players are all focused in a few areas.

The DT, DE, S and CB classes look damn good in Texas. The O-line, WR, RB, LB, and QB options in Texas are pretty "meh" if you ask me. A few good players at those positions but not very deep at all.

I've bolded the players that I'm pretty confident we get commitments from. I think Buechele is a lock for the Sooners. And I don't see us being able to talk Jones out of A&M, although I hope we can.

Best QB in TX IMO is Jalen Hurts of Channelview. There are some very very good RBs in this class. Rockeem Boyd from Stratford could be the 2016 SoSo Jamabo, he is a big joker that runs away from people. Trey Williams from CE King is getting alot of big dogs coming by. Da'leon Ward will pick up steam after the playoffs he had.

I think HS is determined not to allow another jumbo-sized recruiting thread like we have seen with 2015.

It will be the last of its kind.

In the future, the young ones will gather round the fire and talk about the Great 2015 HS Recruiting Thread in hushed, reverent terms.

Perhaps we should name a star for it in that registry?

I think the HS staff/mods would be open to having a 2016 recruiting thread. They've shown that they're attentive to their members' requests and feedback by allowing the 2015 thread to continue on.

I think next year we could possibly pursue an improved version of what the mods proposed this year, but that wouldn't really be needed until the home stretch of recruiting rolls around.

If you don't ask for it, you'll never know. But the 2015 thread is evidence that HS listens to it's members.

I really wish they would not allow kids to commit until after the previous years NSD. These early commitments have gotten crazy. One or two schools start getting commitments from juniors and sophomores, other schools have to follow are risk getting behind. I would like to possible see a second signing day as well. Maybe sign 10-12 that come in in the fall semester and 10-12 that come in in the spring semester. Just saying.......
