Toby Weathersby decommits

Well this blows.  I don't see how landing some relatively unknown OL JUCO, like Hodges, makes up for talented players like Toby.  We already lost out on Kirkland and probably MJ.

While I am a firm believer in CS, today has been full of disappointing news.

Our offer list isnt exactly breaking down the barriers when it comes to ESPN 300 commits.  Vahe is the only top 300 OL on the list now.

I felt bad about losing out on Weathersby when I heard about this, but then I thought about Wickline. Mack Brown constantly had a higher rated OL over Oklahoma State every year, but Wickline had much better results than UT. While our OL usually struggled, the Cowboys OL was in the top 20 practically every year.

I checked some of Wickline's recruiting ratings from 2006-2009. Either he picked the right players or he coached them up, but they were successful. I figured 2009 was his last class at OK ST that he coached till their senior year.

It's like Weathersby woke up one day and said screw all the schools I was once interested in. The link confirms that the schools he's looking at are Arkansas, Ole Miss and LSU. One of the weirdest things I've seen. If it wasn't the Horns I thought for sure it would have been the Sooners or Aggies.

Must be the top notch education provided at those schools compared to UT.

I had heard a few months back that there might be an issue with this guy. I think he saw something on the horizon he didn't think would be successful for him. So he's changed direction.

I'm concerned about Lampkin. Commits visiting in January is usually not a good sign as there's not as much excitement going on then which means they're a bit more serious about what they're doing.

I've heard some compare him favorably to Mack, at least in ceiling and potential.

I asked on another thread, but figured I would here as well since you brought up Lampkin. Is he our only DT commit for 2015? Other targets aside from Mack? Lack of DT recruits looks like a problem to me. I'm not a coach or Mel Kiper, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
