Who are you, why are you here, tell us something interesting about yourself

Recommended Posts

We did this on a private site a couple of the yahoos here started and it went over well.

I'll start. . .echeese, Chuck Wright (btw, you don't need to share names if you don't want). . .1st football game I ever watched (no shit. . .) was the Great Shoot Out 2 Dec 1969. . .my dad had just left for a year unaccompanied (AF brat) and at that age, football was something you played in the yard. . . .been "hooked" ever since.

Marine, now my payback is supporting our vets including sending game DVDs to our deployed guys and gals.   Am working with Nate Boyer's Caring for Camo program.   BTW, Echeese was my call sign . .I flew phroggs (CH 46's). . .

My name is TaylorDuck. I seldom post anymore but often hang out with STP. All I can say is what a difference he's made in my life. He helped me get over my last girlfriend after I dipped into hopelessness, again. I owe him so much and am grateful to be going to all the Boerne HS games with him.

SHA needs to change his password, btw.

Name is dalton, I was born in Fort Worth and lived in Granbury TX. I am a young buck still at the age 26 and have been living in south Florida for 8 years now. Pretty much all of my family graduated from UT, my grandfather had a law degree and served as a lawyer for the army during Vietnam. Living in south Florida it's hard to find good folks that know what's good for them such as burnt orange pride, also hard to get news updates.

Preston Johnson

Born in a town about 90% of Texans don't know exists - Dickens (March 17, 1940).

Dropped out of high school and joined the AF in January 1958 - seven and a half years later rejoined humanity.

Started going to UTA when I was almost 28, night school for two years.

Transferred to UT in 1970 and graduated with honors and a degree in Finance in 1971.

Married twice, a son by each wife.

Moved from Bastrop to Rocklin, CA in Sept 2012 for my wife's job.

My wife was 13 years younger than me and she passed away fairly unexpectedly in June 2013.  Had two dogs who have also died since I came here.  All alone now.

Oldest son and grandson live in Pflugerville, younger son and granddaughter live in Rocklin, but not with me (that would NEVER work)

Coming to Austin for Thanksgiving and going to the game.

Didn't take this thread long to get seriously de-railed.

Pfft. Seriously derailed is over at TOS where Jaba the Hut resides.

I'm Sirhornsalot and you can call me that or Mark or SHA or whatever you want. I've been here almost a year now and found this site so promising that I invested in it as a sponsor.

I post a landscape forum where do it yourselfers can ask questions about landscaping and get free advice. We have a good time with that. I own and operate a landscape design/maintenance company that serves DFW, Austin and now Longview area.

I also do the weekly HS football preview. Joeywa is my Pacific Northwest Bureau and keeps us abreast of the Camas juggernaut.

I've been around the inter webs for a long time as far as Longhorn sites go. What can I say, I love my Horns. Have met a TON of friends and will cherish many of them forever.

I'm from East Texas (daingerfield) but have lived in S Texas, Dallas and now Lewisville. I love this state and the good people in it. I am a proud father and husband and hopefully in about another 10 years I'll see grandfatherhood (and not before, ha ha).

I'm Pete,

I've been around the world twice, and talked to everyone once.  I've been to three world fairs. I'm a hard bodied, hairy chested, rootin, tootin, shootin, parachutin, badass.

There ain't nothin I can't do.

No sky too high, no sea too rough, no muff too tough.  I've learned a lot of lessons in my life.  Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet. I drive all kinds of trucks, 2x's, 4x's, 6x's even those big trucks that bend and go TSSHHHHTT TSSSHHHTT when you step on the brakes.

Anything in life worth doing is worth OVERDOING!! Moderation is for cowards!

I'm a lover, I'm a fighter, I'm a badass skydiver.  So if your feeling froggy you better jump, cause this dudes been there, done that, and is going back for more.

Ok, so I know that is not how the "Frogman ballad" goes, but out of respect, as I am not a SEAL, I had to change it a bit.  But I can relate to a lot of it, so I just changed it a bit to fit me.

my name is Jim Raup, and there is nothing interesting about me, I grew up in Austin dreaming of playing QB for the Longhorns. My size and talent stopped that ambition at the HS level, but I was lucky enough to make the UT baseball team. I coached HS baseball and football for 9 years and my teams took me to the UIL State Tournament in baseball three times, including 1997 with a team that included Matt Belisle, a future MLB pitcher, and my son at 1B.. I have been a lawyer for 35 years, and my practice evolved into representing educational institutions.

I came to Horn Sports to support McPhaul's venture, and I am sorry adults could not figure out a way to get along. I am here for the duration.

Blair Cherry, Jr. I was born in Austin in 1939 while D. X Bible was head coach and my Dad was an assistant. He later became head coach, so I was literally born into Texas football. Played every sport I could until I blew out my left knee in a spring game in 1955. Played basketball and ran track after that, including a letter as a freshman at UT in 1958. Graduated from UT undergrad and law (1964) and have been a lawyer ever since. Did manage to coach football and track and teach school at the Junior High level for a year (1965-1966) while trying to establish a law practice. Was a DA and a district judge in Lubbock. Retired in 2006, but still sit as a visiting judge occasionally. Now live in Granbury so I can be close to my baby girl (A&M. Class of 1999) and help on her farm. Married over 40 years, happily. (By the way, I tell my daughter that she is the first child in our family in generations that failed to get a college education.)

I come here because of the people who post, whom I respect, and who don't engage in the kind of vile stuff one sees on TOS.
