secsux
So all Augie has to do is win the CWS to retain his job? Sounds like a pretty tough group to please.
drgilbert
What were the expectations for our baseball team this year? Have we met or exceeded them. It seems like we have done pretty darn good considering all the youth on the team.
Administrators Matt Cotcher Posted May 23, 2014 Author Administrators Report Share Posted May 23, 2014 For the poster asking about all the non-rev sports....per the Ticker on the site, the women's golf team hired a new coach today. Ryan Murphy - previously an Asst. Coach to Fields.
Sirhornsalot
This was particularly pleasing "FOB: Don't be shocked if there are some recruiting surprises coming and it is all good news for the Horns." I like what I'm hearing about our recruiting. Really liking it. And Coleman Feeley, I'm really digging your stuff man. Loving the breakdowns of Xs and Os with our team. Thank you! Agree with SHA FOB has my attention. I've had that kind of feeling all along that recruiting would start to snowball going forward. Feeley. Nice work. ATX89
Another great crossfire. Hilarious about CS as one of Ketch's alias', but I don't think that will surprise anyone. I'm ok with adding BYU for now. It doesn't move the needle a ton, but I'd take them over some other options in order to get back to 12 teams. I've always wondered why we don't go after Arkansas and try to pull them from the SEC. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Arkie fans etc. etc., but it would be hilarious to pull a team away from the SEC and frankly Arkie has been beyond irrelevant since leaving the SWC. I've got my popcorn ready for the recruiting updates and do think some big momentum shifts for the good guys is on the way. Good luck to Augie. Those fences have been there since the Disch was built. Not sure why opposing teams come into our ball park with lower ranked recruits and consistently outhit and outscore us, but what do I know. I've wondered if NCAA schools are allowed to use wooden bats or if it's too expensive. I've spoken to an ex-Horn first baseman about wooden bats vs the current BB Core and he said the BB Core bats don't bend or flex at all which makes them dead. Wood absolutely bends an flexes and sometimes breaks, but it would be interesting to see more on this. 3xhorndad
armadillo slim
other teams don't come into DFF and consistently out hit and out score us. it just seems that way. their averages are way better than ours because THEY DON'T PLAY MOST OF THEIR GAMES AT DFF LIKE WE DO! They only have to play 3 games a year here. When we go to their places, our hits and HR's go up. Way up. DFF should be renamed "The Field Where Batting Averages Go To Die" we're 37-16 for the year. our record is fine. but the offense has diminished greatly with the bat changes and in doing so, it has out shrunk the field. It's time to pull the fences in some, something like 20-25 feet all the way around except center.
ATX89
Slim, what do you think about using wood bats in the NCAA?
armadillo slim
it won't happen. the cost for many schools would be prohibitive and there's not enough good wood to satisfy the demand of colleges and high schools on top of the minor and major leagues. costs would skyrocket. Texas could handle it, but a lot of schools couldn't. (ok, ok. kill the jokes about slim being unable to get good wood. that's old news.) they've got to go with the aluminum bats and if they're hell bent on returning ball speeds to the wood bat days of the early 70's, then some of the parks will have to change. not all of them, just some where the dumb down has ruined the game.
