More problems for Texas A&M

Wow Kam Miles was just kicked off the team. Probably a smart move here by Sumlin though. He's going to have to start bringing the hammer or discipline problems will continue. They are going to have some serious issues at the safety position next year though.

What does a player have to do to get kicked off the aggy football team? Let's have a little fun speculating, because we know:

* Three misdemeanors in one night won't; underage drinking, using a fake ID, and bar fighting

* Two marijuana possessions within 60 days won't

Who knows? Any ideas?

was Kam Miles any good ??.......Problem is that aggy will have more JUST a little time coming, if Sumlin is going to keep his team together.

He was suppose to see most of the minutes at safety next year from what I've heard. They are already hurting in the secondary, now this makes their secondary a major problem.

Maybe he was only taking online courses?

Considering all the recruiting aghast I've read here, BC, BON & IT in the last week, I have to say if aggy wants all the recruiting service 4 & 5 * dope heads and "Hi, Dig Me's" let them have them. There is a ton of BS in trying to rate potential of Fr, Soph and Jr's in high school. I'm perfectly comfortable with the Strong staff evaluating legitimate prospects based on character and actual talent.

Aggy is doomed to perpetual 4th - 8th place sec, sec, about where they finished in the B12. Hump that aggy.

Texas A&M boards are saying he was caught stealing stuff from his teammates. Sounds like A&M has a respectable bunch over there with thiefs and drugs.

At least he kept it in house by only stealing his teammates drugs and not from Joe public. Props to him for aggie on aggie crime spree...stay classy

Want proof that getting good players is not all that matters in college football.

So, of the Ags top 5 rated recruits for 2013, #3 Isaiah Golden gets busted for possession, #4 LaRue transfers out, and #5 Kam Martin gets kicked off the team, #1 recruit RSJ has never been healthy in his career and missed most of his Freshman year because of injury. That means 4 out of 5 of the best recruits from the 2013 class have already had some serious problems. Much more to getting good recruiting classes. You have to get guys that are not injury prone, team players and aren't trouble makers. Take away all those players with issues, A&M probably didn't even have a top 25 class.

I was worried that maybe he'd made a movie with a donkey....or a sheep.

But, would that get you expelled from aggieland? :P

Then we could get our fellow poster lsampson, the movie critic, to inform us he and the sheep are crappy actors.

Pft, aggy don't care. They're all about recruit rankings, close losses and moral victories.

Aggie hides behind the SEC tuck tail and run move, and thinks they outfoxed UT somehow. They will never admit it, but that last matchup with the Horns at Kyle field still tears them up inside. Priceless. Let's hear it for history, and the lopsided won-loss record Texas will forever hold over atm.

Expelled??? I believe it's a serious area of study at TAMU - agricultural sexual research. I'm sure A&M researchers are the Masters and Johnson of animal-human relations.

I'm not sure coach Sumlin has had the course converted to on-line yet though, so it may not be available to the football team...

Please tell me this was a nod/reference to Proposition Joe. Who is an A&M poster on this board and a character on 'The Wire'.

The real problems for Sumlin begin if/when he actually does try to crack down on the discipline. When you recruit players who pick a program because the coach doesn't believe in discipline and then the coach tries to instill the very thing the players were purposely avoiding, you get problems. Sumlin promised the kids a country club, they bought what he was selling. Most of the players who can transfer somewhere will transfer before they tolerate Sumlin starting to crack down on discipline.

Which is why Sumlin won't last. The AD does not like this type of stuff. He's the one that stepped in and suspended all those players last season, and apparently it created a rift between Sumlin and the AD. IMO Sumlin could give two craps about suspending players. When the AD steps in again and starts suspending players this is only going to perpetuate the problems. If Sumlin is offered a job in the NFL, he's gone in a year or two (that's if he can win enough to attract NFL organizations). Sumlin better not pull a 6-6 or 7-5 next year, because it only exacerbates these problems. It's one thing to be winning with a bunch of trouble makers, completely other thing to be losing with a bunch of off the field issues.

247 has a calculator you can use to remove various prospects from a recruiting class to see how it affects the overall ranking. Without those four, aggy's 2013 class drops to 16th, right where UT and OU ended up. http://tamu.247sports.com/Season/2013-Football/Commits/Preview

Sumlin is getting paid to go 4-0 against OOC cupcakes. 4-4 in the SEC and half of the time win their muffler or chicken sandwich bowl. As long as he does that, he will be there regardless. The ags are in the SEC now. So far this year, the SEC has had more football players arrested than every other D1 team in every other sport (men's and women's) combined. http://arrestnation.com/2014-arrest-stats/ The ags who are running the show now are the ones who grew up when the program was through its run of 10 losing seasons in a row and losing seasons in 16 of 17 years. 8-4 is wildly successful for them. They don't care about the collateral costs to getting there.

They also lost one of their top prospects Kohl Stewart who went to the MLB. Even Claiborne might be gone from that class. That class isn't turning out like they wanted. Looking at their 2012 class I see they already lost their number 2 recruit in Johnson, number 4 recruit in Matt Davis, and a couple other top recruits like Walker and Polo. They need about 3 more classes like the one they had this year to compete with LSU, Alabama and Auburn (other then this years class IMO they really haven't had great recruiting classes when you look at who they have lost). A&M thinks they will be ready to compete for a title in 2016, I only laugh. Maybe 2017 or 2018 if you can put about 3 more classes together.
