Texas Basketball Post Game Recap: Kansas State

The Texas Longhorns travelled to snowy Manhattan, Kansas to try and extend their winning streak to 8 games by beating Kansas State. The Texas Longhorns were never in this game as the Wildcats dominated the Texas Longhorns 74-57. The Texas Longhorns fall to 18-5 (7-3 Big 12).

Turning Point of the Game

After going up 2-0. Kansas State scored 12 straight points and never looked back. It was a brutal game to watch if you are a Texas Longhorns fan.

Player of the Game

Marcus Foster

I don't normally pick the opposing team's player but Marcus Foster was dominate tonight. Yes he is from Wichita Falls, Texas but he didn't have many offers but committed and signed early to Kansas State so the Longhorns didn't really have a chance to recruit him. 34 points for Foster and he was unstoppable.

Epilogue:

Kansas State played their best game of the season. Kansas State had to feel that Texas stole that game in Austin and they came out and shoved it down Texas's throats. Add in a week off for Kansas State, Jonathan Holmes's injury and poor shooting; the problems just avalanche out of control for the Longhorns. Sometimes it's just not your night but Texas has now done very poorly on the road against Big 12 tournament teams.

They got blown out last month against Oklahoma State in Stillwater and now against Kansas State in Manhattan. The Longhorns still have to go to Iowa State, Kansas, and Oklahoma. They have to perform better on the road if they want to make it past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament and get to the Sweet 16. The Texas Longhorns will have two games at home, the first against Oklahoma State. I have no doubt that the Longhorns will play a great game at home on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma State is really struggling with Tech, and they've been struggling for a while now. Texas has a great chance of beating them on Tuesday (hopefully there's nothing seriously wrong with Holmes).

Texas better pound the ball down low the entire game. Oklahoma State lost their starting center to injury and they have nobody down low. They are essentially down to two PF's and a team of shooting guards/pointing guards. The size advantage is already significantly in the favor of Texas. If Texas can get one of Ok.State's big guys in foul trouble, we will be able to absolutely dominate the paint.

Predict our remaining road games.

@ Iowa St

@ Kansas

@ OU

@ TX Tech

2-2 would be my guess. I think we beat Tech, and will pick up another win somewhere else. I actually think we match up with Kansas better then we do with Iowa State or OU though. All this is dependent on the health of Holmes though.

L (Iowa State is really tough at home)

L (Kansas will dominate at home like KSU did)

W (Texas will be motivated)

W (It will be a close game but I see a win)

Texas just needs to play like they did in Morgantown and they can win on the road.

Wow, Stevie Clark was kicked off the team and Michael Cobbins is injured. That means if Smart is suspended they will only have 5 players that have seen any type of substantial minutes all year.
