Administrators bbdude Posted February 7, 2014 Administrators Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 Texas will sign a monster class in 2015 from a numbers perspective (could be as high as 30). Current pledges:

[TH=class: t33]Player[/TH] [TH=class: t33]Position[/TH] [TH=class: t33]Ht.[/TH] [TH=class: t33]Wt.[/TH] [TH=class: t33]Rating[/TH]

Bryce English DT 5-11 315

Jalen Campbell CB 5-11 175

Johnny Shaw SAF 6-2 190

Connor Lanfear OT 6-6 275

Patrick Vahe OG 6-4 290

Jordan Stevenson RB 5-8 185

Some of the guys Texas will push hard for: Kendall Sheffield -DB, (Thurgood Marshall, Missouri City, TX) Demarcus Lodge - WR (Cedar Hill) Soso Jamabo - RB/ATH (Plano West) Malik Jefferson - OLB (Mesquite Poteet) From a QB perspective, guys like Kyler Murray and Kevin Dillman are guys that are getting looks (along with guys like Jarrett Stidham). Dillman is Heard's successor at Denton Guyer. Doesn't hold an offer from Texas yet but he will get one eventually. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Hiphopopotamos Posted February 7, 2014 Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) I'm not one to be tied to star rankings - but we really need to get some big time talent out of the 2015 class. Hopefully Strong can grab one of the 5 stars from here in Texas (out of the 4 total, two are already committed - LSU & AtM), and work the Florida pipeline to get a big time recruit from out there. Of the top 17 rated players in Texas - AtM has commits from 6 of them. Strong better get to work. Administrators bbdude Posted February 7, 2014 Author Administrators Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 If I had to guess how many hours a night Charlie Strong sleeps I would guess 4 or 5 max. He's dialed in and doing work. He has a lot to overcome/do to get us back on top but all he can do is grind it out day by day. I think we have a good shot but if Florida State offers him then I would be getting a little antsy. He'll pull a ton more offers this year. diehardhorn1988 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 Texas A&M has already held their first Junior Day (Jan 26). Thanks, I assume that is what Lanfear was down for. Glad to hear it's our turn. Hopefully we are able to lock up a bluechip and get this class rolling. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bevo11 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 Unfortunately, UT is not in Jarrett Stidham's top 10 I wouldn't put much stock in that yet. He is wanting to get to know the new coaches. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
texbound Posted February 7, 2014 Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 Do we make a run at daylon Mack? I know he's committed to aggie, heard he grew up a horns fan. I think Texas has good shot at him. I also heard he was a Longhorn fan growing up. He also recently said Texas got a good one in the D-line coach from Alabama (Rumph). I have a good feeling he will seriously consider flipping if Strong and Rumph go after him hard. Just my opinion. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
odell327 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Share Posted February 7, 2014 I didn't catch all the recruiting chat lately but just wanted to pass along info on Lanfear. He attended A&M junior day. He is still moderately committed to the Horns. As of last weekend he hadn't spoken to anyone from the new coaching staff which probably weakened his commitment a bit. Plus he's got a lot of aggy fans in the family. With that said they are supportive of him making his decision and won't pressure him away from Texas. His sister posted a pic of him today wearing Horns apparel so he's definitely still onboard Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Big Tex Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 Lanfear is a great kid from a really nice family. I hope he sticks with the good guys. I think he's a Wickline type of guy. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
LongviewLobo01 Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 Mack is a guy that Texas needs to push for all season long. Rumph and Strong need to live in Gladewater. Not only is Mack one of the best DTs to come out of the state in a couple of years, but he's a Jake Raulerson type leader of the class. I don't think it's impossible to switch him, but we are going to need Strong to have a really good first year and aggy to drop off to have a chance IMO. The fact that we do have a new coaching staff has opened the door slightly. Had we kept Mack and the previous staff we would have had zero shot. Hookem14 Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 Kevin Dillman visited Louisville on his own dime this summer, per his 247 page. Always a good sign for the new staff and most likely for shawn watson. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
