DukeHorn
Phony excuse? Seriously? What do you expect Strong to do in the past month with most of the official visits burned? Did Mack Brown get a Big 12 championship before recruiting well? Was Mack's first recruiting class in the top 12? No to both. Did Saban win big in his first year at Alabama? (pst he went 6-6 with a loss in the Independence Bowl). Saban's first recruiting class at Bama was no. 10. He didn't have to follow a legend (Mike Shula was the prior coach). Why don't you outline your expectations for Strong over the next two years so we can see if it has an iota of realism.
DMV Horn
Of course development is important but you develop 4* and 5* to win championships. You develop a team full of 2* & 3* talent to be good. Every football national champion has many more top star guys then low star gurs. Please compare the average attitude of a 4* or 5* player that read their own press to the hungry 0* to 3* that have chips on their shoulders with something to prove. mesoHorny
While talent is important, developing it is much more important. Please tell me the last time Baylor or Oklahoma State pulled in a Top 10 class, how about Stanford? You tell me the last time Baylor, OSU or Standford played in the natty? armadillo slim
It seems that the Mack Brown apologists have already been replaced by the Charlie Strong apologists who are throwing out every phony excuse imaginable for him failing to hold Mack's worthy recruits and add additional top recruits in 2014. The bottom line is that Charlie is off to a very unimpressive start on the recruiting front and that means that Charlie needs to coach his ass off and deliver a Big 12 championship and final 4 berth in 2014 or his 2015 recruiting class may be worse than 2014. It is pathetic to watch UT fans who are willing to settle for more 8-4 / 9-3 mediocrity in 2014 that would only confirm that nothing has really changed in UT's culture and expectations that are at the root of the recruiting problems. Winning big in 2014 is the only chance that Charlie has to survive the huge negative momentum in recruiting. garbage
jc77
There are so many good football players now, there is no way they all can be rated 4 or 5 stars. One recruiting guru will get on one guy and then all the rest are touting how good he is. I think we should let it play out. We almost won the conference with Case and a DC who came in the middle of the season.

Davharjac
Texasfirst1, maybe you should have hired the coach, or maybe you should have been made recruiting coordinator since you are so well versed in the art..
