johnabeard
Just two days ago, we all knew mack wasn't going to announce his retirement at the banquet Friday night, all he did was deflect the questions, he never once said I will be the head coach in 2014. The latest on espn that mack will make a decision on his own time. there cant be any deal with saban till mack steps down period, its against the law. Saban is the sneakiest coach out there, especially after the way he left Miami. my theory is mack steps down within a few days like he was suppose to do after the banquet so it could be about the kids, and then texas makes an 8 mill offer to saban what happens then is all speculation
johnabeard
whats funny is Alabama was bidding against itself, since the mack job was never vacant. Props to sexton on that going down making it look like he was coming to texas, when texas wasn't able to even make a real offer until mack steps down
Black Scholes
Sexton had an offer in hand. Sure there are a lot of 'subject tos' but we put the fattest package we could on his desk. Aggie bid against themselves. Bama did not.

GetHooked
As long as we have a new coach next year that is not Mack's choice, I'm ok with it. If Mack comes back, I don't. I can't stand the sight of the loser.

UTK66
1. I don't think Saban to Texas was anywhere near the reality that many thought/posted/predicted/said. Just never made sense to me. 2. I don't think Mack will come back next season. Anybody expecting a decision or announcement last night was bound to be disappointed. 3. Last night went exactly like I thought it would (all about the team) although I would've liked to hear an announcement myself. 4. Too many are freaking out about some things that were said last night by Patterson/Powers etc (we look forward to working with Mack for many years to come etc etc). When Mack steps down (after the bowl game IMO) he'll still be involved with Texas to some degree. It would be too stupid too run him off completely. I think the Alamo Bowl is his last game. Although, if I was Mack, I wouldn't want to end a career with a 40 point loss to Oregon.

They will let him get the overall win record and then retire. Dont know why people are keeping on this "Mack wont be back" when everything says that he will. Its done and over. Time to recruit and hopefully right the ship.

This is an Internet forum, not the evening news. And before you ridicule someone for "not being in the board meetings nor Sexton's office", were you there to prove he was wrong? No. So, this is just your opinion and you are upset, like the rest of us. If you think there wasn't an offer to Saban, to become our next HC, you are fooling yourself. It got out early last year, that we approached Saban about becoming our next HC. He listened. If he hadn't listened last year, we wouldn't have approached him again this year. There was an offer. He declined. Move on. And the next time you want to tell someone to stop talking about something they "no" nothing about, you need to back up your rebuttal with your own facts. Dead on rebuttal there 96 except if you think this cat is actually upset like the rest of us you are sadly mistaken. The poster likes to tell us all how ridiculous and delusional we are yet has never, ever offered up one iota of proof to anything he/she claims. That the meeting between Hall and Hicks with Sexton has been documented and noted by Hall during his impeachment hearings is funny because this poster simply states were all stupid and silly. He/she has apparently annointed themselves as our board thought police as though the message boards dictate anything. If in fact, the message boards and Chip's report of Mack stepping down truly dictate our policy towards coaching and staffing changes in the Texas AD, we have a much, much worse situation on our hands. My guess is the poster you are soundly rebutting is enjoying a donut or 20 with his/her best buddy, Fatdog.

Dont know why people are keeping on this "Mack wont be back" when everything says that he will. Its done and over. Time to recruit and hopefully right the ship. For someone who I thought was correct on Saban, though I disagreed with the way you shared your opinion, you are exercising more cynicism than logic on Mack staying. He may stay. After the dumpster fire mess of this week I wouldn't bet on anything related to Belmont. However, Mack has been living on borrowed time for 3 years now. Ever since The debacle in Provo the sentiment has been overwhelming that he is done at the end of the year. This has been true at both the national and local media level. There has been nothing to indicate Mack is staying other than this torturous delay of any kind of statement one way or another. To argue otherwise is to abandon the logic you used with such fervor against those who bought into Saban coming.
