Common Man Prediction Thread – BAMA

Recommended Posts

Sorry for fumbling on the kick off guys. We're back on track this week.

We travel to Alabama to play the team we should have beat last year.

This time, it's at their place. I tend to think a visiting team has a focus advantage, because, well, what else are they going to do?

I think we played a better game against Rice than most are saying. No, we didn't wipe them off the face of the earth like we wanted, but Rice was better than we thought. And we still beat them comfortably.

I tend to look at the Bama QB situation as the key here. We damn near beat Bama last year with a Heisman QB at their helm. This year, we have Jalen Milroe who probably won the job because he has some running ability. He has a serviceable arm, but nothing to fear and he still has an issue with accuracy at times. Logic would dictate that if we almost beat a Heisman QB, we should surely beat a back up QB who won by default.

I want to see a laser focused team that is ready to play next Saturday. I want to see them jump on Bama early then not let up.

And I think we will. Defense shines.

Texas 28

Bama 21

Right now Vegas has this game as Texas 24.5 Bama 32, just for context.

Based on how strong our defense looks, and Milroe at QB, I don't see Bama scoring 32 points. Based on how strong Bamas defense looks and how our offense looks, I don't think we score much more than 24.

Texas 24

Bama 21

And take the under all day.

original line was Texas + 6.5, Im guessing by gametime with all the hype that will tighten up to Texas + 3.5. I am sure that Texas has been scheming for Bama since...last year

being a Texas homer if I still lived in Vegas I would take Texas on the M/L...on the parlay I take TX with the points plus the over....

now back to the game itself, Texas has to take the crowd out of the game early, they cant win it in the first quarter but they could lose it, but they better get used to it because when we join the SEC the crowds will be very hostile until we earn their respect. The homer in me dreams that Texas comes into the lions den and says there's a new sheriff in town and they wear Burnt Orange..

with the awful showings by TCU and BU and TT...we win this and running the table is a real possibility

I will make my real prediction on Friday

If we see the same product we saw against Rice on Saturday it’s gonna be a long day. The thing is how long is Quinn’s leash if he can’t complete deep balls? He hasn’t improved in my opinion.

This is where I am too. I need to see something different.

Prediction: Bama by 10

If we came out with purpose on Saturday, I might have given us a better shot.

I worry about Milroe and Jase.  I don’t know that we can stop a mobile QB and Milroe is as big and as fast as they get.   I wish we were better at LB than we are but maybe Ford and Hill can chase them down or Catalon has a field day.   They may need to.

i truly believe our offense if executed well has so many playmakers that it’ll be lethal.

I think we start well, Bama settles, and that we pull it off late.  I want an Ewers statement game and if he’s going to take it to another level this game is it.

Texas - 33

Alabama - 31

Quinn doesn't have a leash. You saw what is behind him. I like Murphy but he is far from ready, but he's more ready than option 3. You jerk the leash, you're surrendering.

I agree, no leash now and no need to be concerned about swapping QBs at this juncture.

I think even if this weekend is rough, quinn would need to continue to struggle and lay an egg in a big 12 loss for there to be any thought about making a change.

Quinn has no leash. Last Saturday, he led the team on 3 consecutive TD drives then made way for Maalik to get some reps. Quinn is our QB. Embrace it.
