82Horn
Been cable guy for a long time, like the convenience of not having to do all that streaming stuff. But spectrum cable has lost me as a customer this weekend. Would love to hear what best options are out there, and any extra information you have. NEOkHorn
Fairly pleased with Youtube tv except that it doesn’t carry the LHN.
Baron
Sling isn't bad. It's definitely cheaper. No local channels though.

Captain Hookem
DirectTV Choice package is the only provider I found with LHN and local channels.

I am doing spring for this football season and then will probably switch to Youtube TV next season (since LHN won't be needed). I watch local channel games via antennae. TXFF
The CEO of Charter (Spectrum) has said they are in agreement with Disney on the cable package. What they're trying to negotiate is streaming rights to Disney programming as well. So it's a big time showdown between the streaming and legacy cable business models. It makes a lot of sense for Spectrum to offer Disney streaming rights as they transition to a hybrid (cable/streaming) business model. The question is probably what the streaming rights are worth. The results of this negotiation will probably have a major impact on the future of media access. Eastexhorn

I am not mad about it, and think they have every right to negotiate how they think best for their business. This is just the primer as I have been thinking about switching for some time. I am sure they don’t care about losing my account, I am just going to make sure I am never in this situation again. As a customer it is my right to simply move on. LHN is part of the sports package. It's an extra 5 or 10 dollars. Texas games seem to be broadcast regardless of whether or not that network is live. Sirhornsalot
I signed up for AT&T Streaming service. It works a lot like cable so its nothing fancy. AT&T sold this service to DirectTV and now its called DirectTV Streaming. I have no real complaints. I get all the channels I want, local channels, sports (LHN), a choice on weather channels (I hate TWC). I combine this with subscriptions to whatever movie channels my wife wants to see. I had Time-Warner Cable before I switched. DirectTV has been far more reliable, IMO.

DBut82
We switched from Spectrum cable to DirecTV Stream. It's very similar to cable with RSN's and LHN. But it seemed like every couple of months that the price increased. We switched to YouTube TV which is similar to the cable experience as well. I love it other that not having RSN's (baseball season so I'm not too messed up about it. Plus the playoffs will start shortly and I can catch the Rangers then) and no LHN (which is going away anyway). Plus YouTube TV offers some channels in 4k which is pretty dope. So, depending on your need for local sports & LHN (Rangers, Mavericks, Stars in this case) go with DirecTV Stream. You'll pay a bit more Sirhornsalot and 82Horn 1
hookemhorb
I cut the cord a couple of years ago. For local channels I use an indoor digital tv antenna. It works great for me and cost about $40. I then use Sling for ESPN and other channels. Sirhornsalot
