Administrators HornSports Staff Posted April 15 Author Administrators Report Share Posted April 15 Regarding the OL, we expect true freshman Connor Stroh to get the start at RG for the Orange team because of the injuries on the line. He will go up against T’Vondre Sweat.

TexCoyote
Is someone running ahead of Hayden Connor at Guard? I noticed on the roster he is on the different team from Banks, Jones, Majors. Who’s the starting 5 if we were playing a real game today?

texbound
Worthy, Whittington, Mitchell and Sanders is going to be a potent bunch this season. A combination of Speed (Worthy), size and ball skills (Mitchell), toughness and Hands (Whittington) and a mismatch nightmare (Sanders). This group will be special if they can stay healthy. I haven't even included the upside of Cook and Moore and come back of Neyor. dssl and 83Dee 1

Could be worse results.

83Dee
Just watched the game. I think Murphy ought to be inserted into more of the "who's the next Longhorn QB" discussions. While I'm at it, if I had a complaint about Sark (which I really don't) it would be his handling of the quarterback position, of all things. I have to say, for him to say Ewers is "clearly the starter" after the Spring Game, is baffling to me. I guess my follow up question is "why?" Should he automatically get the nod because of last year's stellar play? Certainly not.... Was he head and shoulders above Murphy in the Spring / Spring Game? Certainly not... Again, I am not trying to start anything against Sark here... I'm all about what he's doing at UT.... but this is a discussion forum, and his handling of the QBs - all three years, I don't get. Murphy certainly has a strong arm as Sark said, but there's much more to playing QB such as reading defenses, etc, which Sark would have evidence of. 83Dee

Two of the QBs have never started a game in college (one was basically hurt his whole first year) while the other has played in 10 games and showed flashes of potentIal. If there was an experienced QB behind Ewers that played like Murphy in the spring game then maybe the job would be open but Ewers is the guy. The team needs to know it so we can get ready. We have a lot of opportunity next season and can’t mess it up with a green QB. Bear19

Sark can be stubborn to say the least, but his handling of QB's isn't the question for me (other than the Okie St game). There needs to be a plan in place to manage players and their trajectories. For instance, the hope is for Ewers to dominate this next season and go pro. Leaving an open competition between MM and Manning which Malik wins. He then proceeds to tear it up continuing the "Sark is a QB guru" mantra and enters the NFL draft. Rinse and repeat (Manning and all future QB recruits). Anyway I just think there needs to be a cycle that hopefully levels out at two years for each starter after a redshirt. Otherwise I think the portal hurts us. Case in point, Gerry Hamilton mentioned that MM's performance garnered some attention and others said that Florida coaches had started following him. If Malik knows the plan is for him to start next year maybe he stays. JMO, rant ended. UTfish and 83Dee 1
Eastexhorn
Well lets hope if there is another Okie St. game it is not handled the same way. UTfish
