longhorn_mig
Personally, based on what has been released to date, I'd say the University need to cut ties. However, since the University has essentially said nothing, and considering her recent statement, I'm wondering if they're trying to suspend him without pay for the season, send them to counseling, and try to bring him back next season. Not saying I agree with that, but it sure seems more likely each day that passes and he's not fired.

I would guess the University is investigating this from multiple angles to figure out if he can be retained without damaging the brand. If this was just an isolated incident and no pattern is found and no abusive behavior within the program. Then your counseling rehab program sounds very reasonable. If this turns out to be part of pattern of how he treats woman in general, then he should be gone.

I'm just hoping they're figuring out the contract situation behind the scenes and reaching out to agents for other coaches.

oldhorn2
Strangely....I don't. The issue toe is...based on what we have seen so far..... It is so easy to say, “just fire him”. Unfortunately the effects can be devastating to the individual and their family. When did someone’s livelihood become irrelevant? His career disposable? If he threw it away, I understand, but if he is innocent, surely The University that I have supported financially and emotionally is strong enough to withstand a few darts. If not, I want to find out now. My University should do the honorable thing, and support Beard if he is innocent and caught in a bad situation. If he is guilty, then he needs to step up and accept the consequences, naive, yes. Honorable, absolutely. I would be shocked if UT failed to do an exhaustive background check on Beard before he was hired, and turned up absolutely nothing. It’s time to watch the Alamo Bowl when this track meet is over. Huskie1
The longer this is quiet, the better Beard’s chances are, in my opinion. I’m going to guess they play out this season, then reinstate him during the off season, barring any new developments. Just my thoughts anyway. I'm no legal buff - would that imply the prosecutors have enough evidence to try him even without her testimony? Like, do they have pictures of injuries and enough from the police who responded?
