Random Question (& Bijan Appreciation Post)

I watched the USC vs UCLA game last night and the announcers were gushing about Caleb Williams and then they flashed all the QB Heisman contenders on the screen and the games they had and not ONE fricking mention of Bijan and the day he had, if that wasn't a Heisman worthy performance I dont know what is. If he doesnt get an invite to NY I will be bitterly disappointed

I mean the TCU game all but eliminated him unfortunately.

If he gets a draft grade after the 2nd, he’d probably come back.  But we all know he won’t.

He should and will take advantage of a great college career and take his talents to the NFL.  No reason to risk it all for another college season.

he gone.

Maybe, but Bijan is a different breed of cat who absolutely loves the Longhorns. The OL will be great next year, and Texas is going to be really good. He's already getting millions from NIL and the Heisman would be a realistic possibility.

I'm not saying that he should stay another year, but it wouldn't really surprise me if he does.

I doubt he comes back, but imagine if the Horns back into the B12 Championship game, win it then win their bowl game. That may make him and all other returning players feel like something special could happen next year. As already mentioned, he is making $$ with NIL and he is a different kind of guy. A man can dream.

🤞🤞

Jamaal Charles, along with Priest Holmes are two to the most unappreciated RBs at Texas.

Holmes setback was through injury and not much could have been done about that but he was a much better Pro than his time at UT and that says something.

Charles was one of the best I've ever seen. With either a better offensive scheme or an even average OL, he would have had over 2000 yds in 2007 and we would be having a different conversation. the championship OL was completely gone by 2007 and it showed.  Their run blocking was atrocious and pass blocking wasnt much better so Greg Davis moved on from the VY zone read to a full spread offense. Result? right move for Colt even though he set the record for interceptions, but it was a big setback for jamaal. Watching the fastest RB in college football take handoffs at a stand still was mind blowing as was the stretch play horizontally along the opposite offensive set.  how do you self-neutralize the fastest player? have him run horizontally.  Charles and Finley were so irritated by GD's scheme, they couldnt leave soon enough.  Being a MUCH better pro than college player says something wasnt right

If Bijan leaves after this year, he will be ANOTHER Texas RB that will do better in the NFL

I know how great he was in the NFL might lead us to think Charles was underutilized but I remember us being down a few games (Ok St and Nebraska come to mind) in 2007 and we then started to make handing off to Charles a priority and he takes over and takes a few to the house from 50+.

His talent was always noticeable but he’s def one of the most talented and probably the fastest ever (sorry Romance) at the position at Texas.  He could’ve been so much more.

The lowest 1st rounder last year got 13m over 4 years. There were no running backs taken 1st round. NIL can't touch that.

False...13m over 4 years equates to 3.25m/year. Bijan has an NIL valuation of 1.6 this year. It'll be higher next year. Bryce Young is 3.2 this year...so yes, NIL can touch that; especially considering Breece Hall (the 1st rb taken in 2022, 2nd round 4th pick) signed for 4yrs/9mil (2.25mil/yr)

4 years vs 1. Signing bonus worth about 2 years. We can dream.

Apples and oranges tbh; NIL is basically 1 year contracts for however many years a prospect stays. IF Bijan were to return his NIL totals next year will undoubtedly be more than this years. Not to mention his 1.6 was a projection before the season began. Who knows? He may project to 2-2.5mil if he returns with a true Heisman campaign behind him. 🤷🏿‍♂️

yeah. (just going by memory) JC just out talented the OOC games and racked up 100+ yd games quickly and was sat.

When conference games started Gregg Davis was forcing the passing game racking up interception after interception.  The offensive line was terrible and still was a work in progress.  JC didnt get a 100+ game until the Nebraska game.

Even during the NU game JC only had 60 something yds up until the 4th qtr and the Horns were down 9-17 (or something like that). NU had the worst run defense in the conference GD hadnt figured out how to exploit it. JC pretty much put everything on his shoulders and took off running for daylight.  IIRC, the 86yd TD run untouched woke everyone up. then the 65 yd TD run, again pretty much on his own; then there was a third TD run. JC had 219 yds in the 4th quarter and ended up with 290 for the game.

After the NU game, GD focused on JC for the rest of the year and I think there was only one game that he didnt get 100 yds to finish the season.  Charles should have been the focus in 2006 & 2007. If so, he might have come back for a senior season but GD was pass-happy and thought he was a genius. GD's philosophy ultimately failed (even in 2008 & 2009) and wasted talent (eg, Charles). Mack knew this and why he wanted to go back to his roots with a balanced offense & power running (but bad timing in 2010)

With Bijan's stellar effort today, he moves just 2 yards out of the lead for rushing yards on the year (2nd to Chase Brown of illinois) and moves to 1st overall in scrimmage yards with a 115 yard edge over Chase Brown once (note Chase Brown has 12TDs to Bijans 20). His 2 TDs also put him in 1st overall 1 ahead of fellow finalists Blake Corum of Michigan, Israel Abanikanda of Pitt and Mohamed Ibrahim of Minnesota.

I think Corum and Chase Brown are the 2 biggest competitors for the Doak Walker Award.

A few things to watch for on Saturday. Does Blake Corum play? He had a knee injury in his last game and has been questionable to play. If he can't go, or is limited in his effect on the game, he may fall out of this race as aside from TDs, his yardage totals are already a few hundred behind the others. Also, a Michigan loss would mean no chance of him to return and have a stellar outing/rack up stats in the championship game.

Chase Brown should be full steam ahead - so we should hope for a poor outing from him. An Illinois loss is unlikely against Northwestern but we should all pull for Purdue to win. If they do, Illinois will miss out on the conference championship game and Brown will not have an extra opportunity for stats prior to the award winners being named.

I'll also add that after today's game - RoJo and Bijan became the most prolific yardage duo in Texas history (2,576 rushing and receiving yards). Besting the 1977 duo of Earl Campbell and Ham Jones by 193 scrimmage yards (and yes, Texas played 12 games that year). Rojo and Bijan have scored 26 TDs this year.

Also the only other duo at Texas to have a 1,000 yd and 500 yd runner in back to back seasons aside from Ricky and Shon Mitchell.

I think we have the data now to truly ask - Rojo and Bijan the best RB duo at Texas all time?

Blake Corum did suit up and play but only managed 2 carries for 6 yards before needing to be removed with aggravation of the injury.

He'll finish the regular season with 19 TD (1st place Bijan 20) and 1543 all purpose yards (1st place Bijan 1894). He'll also have over 100 less rushing yards than Bijan.

Michigan does seem to be in a good position (up 15 with 4 min left) to earn a conference championship game, which would give Corum another opportunity for stats.

Last thing I'll say until we get the 3 finalist, of which Bijan will almost definitely be included.

Chase Brown had a subpar game overall - 106 yards total and 1 TD. Bijan is now the leader in yards from scrimmage on the year. Illinois won but Purdue did too and that means Purdue, not Illinois are big 10 West champs, so no more games for Brown.

Bijan is 1 TD behind the leader - so the two most important stats, yards and TDs, Bijan is at or near the top. I feel good about his chances.

They did the same thing last night and threw in McCarthy the qb at Michigan. I guess because their previous Mich pick Corum didn't play and the Big 10 has to have a representative. Bijan nowhere to be found on the list. I'm sure I'm a homer but he deserves to be in NY. No doubt that Williams has sewed it up though. Really hoping Rising can beat them again next Saturday.

Strictly for selfish reasons but I would approach Bijan with a $6 mill NIL deal that rolls to an endorsement deal for three more years at $6 per year guaranteed.

The last 1st round Rookie RB earned roughly $9 mill first year with the signing bonus with about $3 mill annually in salary. The highest paid NFL RB gets $16 per year.

Bijan plays a fourth year, gets his degree, climbs up the UT record books (Heisman trophy)and wins Big 12 with possible shot at Natty. Makes $6 mill.

Gets drafted 1st round in 2024 with a rookie deal of $10 mill with bonus plus a guaranteed $6 mill in endorsements. Total payout of $16 mill year one and $9 mill per year over the next three years.

Highest paid NIL deal ever, Top 5 NFL RB earnings, and highest paid rookie RB.

If he has a career ending injury he will be insured and have a guarantee of $24 mill. If he has the same injury as a rookie next year he would probably have a guarantee of around $21 mill tops.

It won’t happen but it is doable and I think his long range goal is to become an actor. Alright, Alright, Alright.

I have come to realize, the Heisman no longer goes to the best player in CFB...it now goes to the best player on the best team in CFB, a couple of weeks ago Hooker from Tenn was on everyone's short list, but down go the Vols and down goes HH and you dont even hear his name whispered..

then this Sat it was CJ Stroud's to win or lose, his team lost so will he

Caleb Williams is having a great year for a streaking USC team and looks like he will win it..

Bijan is playing for a team that has gone 5-7 and 8-4 and is no doubt the best college football player in the country and probably won't get an invite to NY

I still think Vince deserved it....and the winner ended up having to return the statue in disgrace
