Miller reassigned as a non-coaching staff member/assistant. This opens up the option for Pierce to hire two paid assistants and a volunteer assistant. Still wondering who would come to UT as assistants with the way the program appears to be right now. To me, it just seems like an assistant would likely think twice accepting a position under Pierce with how these last two weeks have shaken out. Just my 2¢.

Also: FR RHP Jack Arthur has entered the portal tonight. He saw no action this season for Texas

Some think CDC is calling the shots. I hope not because Pierce needs to sink or swim with his own hires.

I tend to think that CDC is aware, and possibly making suggestions, but I don’t believe he is directing the moves. He is letting DP make the decisions that DP feels are necessary. Again, just my opinion here.

The program has been to back to back College World Series.  Something tells me that purse strings for assistants have been opened.  He brought over his guys when he came.  Pierce may be trying to follow Sark's lead and hire the best recruiters and coaches.

A little off-topic but I assume baseball players can also get NIL money. That would mean scholarship limits are meaningless.

Yes, they can.

I do think it lessens to difficulty surrounding scholarship limits but that limitation still remains. Scholarships are means for the school to directly contribute funds to the players but they can not do so via NIL.

There is the Occupy Left Field collective that works to get all the guys on the squad NIL money.

My point is if players are getting NIL money they don’t really need scholarship money. But maybe they can’t get NIL money unless they are on scholarship?

I hear ya on your first point. Could apply that concept to any sport really if you have enough money. Imagine the football team have 30 scholarship quality players as "walk-ons" who just so happen to get 6 figure NIL deals.

All athletes can get NIL deals regardless of scholarship. Heck, the previous rules prevented athletes from making money off of their Name, Image and Likeness so its quite the opposite.

For those that have asked, yes, these hires are by Pierce.  CDC may have had input, but CDC in looking to make improvements to the baseball field. Although, we have a capacity of around 7,600 or so. We were 6 in total attendance and average attendance. Now, of the top 8 the others were all SEC.  Time to increase the total amount and as we go into the SEC need to be closer to Arkie and LSU at over 10,000+.  Plus improving the facilities as a whole for the baseball team and softball team as well.

I wonder what percentage of our current capacity we are filling? I wonder how many sell outs we had this year? Seems like those numbers would need to be relatively high to justify the expense of expanding. I'm all for it, just curious if fan turn out justifies it.

If we do expand, seems like you'd have to extend the 2nd deck along the foul lines. I don't think outfield seating is very feasible given the streets behind.

Well, if I understood what Greg and Keith said during the weekend series at home that almost all were considered sellouts, but listed from 6,800+ to 7,400+.  Most weekday game(s) were more like 6,500 to when we played aggy 8,500+ .

Do know that they said that during the regional games they have temp. seating up to 9,000 for the Sat. night and Sunday games with Texas involved.

From what I've  gathered CDC has placed getting the football and basketball upgrades as needing to get done. They are, now he is looking to improve baseball/softball fields. They have done some improvements for both, but getting the improvements prior to the move needs to happen. Doubt the cost is as much as the football and basketball arena.  Bet he will get several companies to give him designs for upgrading the baseball department/ softball department and fields. Before decision is made and wants input from the coaches and boosters/fans.

Well, if Texas can "move"/close Red River street then expanding into the streets in the outfield is child's play.
