Anwar Richardson is a moron

If anyone here watches the OrangeBloods podcast you know Richardson as the beat reporter coving Texas Longhorns

he has a press pass and can sometimes be heard asking Sark a question during media availability

I used to think only Buddha aka Geoff Ketchum was not hitting on all cylinders all the time

but I heard Richardson say something really stupid today

in a nutshell he thinks coaches like nick saban and kirby smart are old grouches for criticizing the NIL and the new transfer portal

He says that all the coaches want is control and they hate it that young players can now do whatever they please and the coach cant stop them

well duh!

who cant see anything wrong with that?

a team sport where the players run the team?

Why even have a coach?

What Nick Saban and Kirby Smart don't like is what they saw happen with aggy. Aggy employed everything they had with NIL and smoked Saban and the crimson tide in recruiting.

Whats going to stop that from happening again next year? And the year after?

If it goes on, Saban won't be able to maintain his status quo of winning the West each year. And if he can't get out of his own division, no more CCG and MNCs.

They see the threat. Aggy has more money than they do and can do a lot more.

I would imagine they are also worried that a Texas team about to enter the sEC and that finished 5-7 was able to land at #5.

I’m confident alabama can match or exceed any offer by A&M or any other school

but how can any coach organize a team when players can hit the transfer portal any time they choose 365 days a year?

time will tell but I’m sure the NCAA will have to make changes to the NIL and transfer portal

Whether or not Aggy smoked Saban and crimson tide in recruiting depends on your definition of the word "smoked". The facts show that it's actually pretty damn even.

Aggy's average player ranking according to the 247 Composite, minus the kicker they have signed is .9518. Bama's average player ranking is .9519. Those numbers rank #1 and #2.

Aggy has signed and/or has hard commits from 27 position players. 16 of them are in the top 100, 19 are in the top 200, 22 are in the top 300, 25 are in the top 400, and all 27 in the top 500.

Bama has signed and/or has hard commits from 24 position players. 14 of them are in the top 100, 19 are in the top 200, 21 are in the top 300, and all 24 are in the top 400.

Alabama also has 2 portal commits from players who were ranked 14th and 76th in their high school recruiting class.

Here's how Texas compares to all of that and I am counting Watts, Ewers, and Campbell.

Texas has signed and/or has hard commits from 28 position players. 4 of them are in the top 100, 13 are in the top 200, 17 are in the top 300, 21 are in top 400, and 22 are in the top 500. We have 3 players not even in the top 700 (782, 956, and 1418).

Is it possible that some of the issue is that other schools are now emboldened to do similar things to what the SEC big dogs have been doing for years? While it is true that aggie went to excess, Bama and Georgia have been rumored to buy recruits for a long time. Now every college can find a way to drop some kind of money bags.

I'd say doubling the amount of five star commits that Bama has is doing pretty good. Getting six 5-stars is something we have never done and I'm not sure Bama has either.

I realize you just wanted to flaunt your nerdhood and your stats are probably right, but aggy took #1 away from Bama and Saban noticed. So did Smart.

If Richardson's take is the portal bad and the NIL is bad, then why are both using the portal to get better players? Why do neither care to be asked about the NIL deals?

The answer to the 1st question, they don't care and will use it as they see fit.

The answer to the 2nd question: the NIL deals are upto boosters, not them. They liked the under the table deals, but now it doesn't matter. So, they want to complain about us and aggy about it being done through NIL.  However, both coaches know the pulse of their team.

And no neither could match us dollar for dollar in NIL deals and they know it.  But they can and will go up against aggy to put them in their place.

Yes, getting six 5-stars is pretty damn good. In 2018, Georgia got seven 5-stars and in 2021, both Alabama and Ohio State got seven. In recent history, the most Texas has had is five 5-stars in 2010. I don't think we've had more than 2 since.

Some people like to flaunt their opinions, cough, cough, and some people like to flaunt facts which are right more often than "probably". But hey it's all good 😉

I'm verklempt. lol

Thats as big of a nerd as you've been in six months here. lol Still, I found your post informative. Seven five-stars is pretty awesome.

As for opinions and facts, . . no, I don't think you've ever offered your opinion on anything here (chuckle). Just the facts.

Would you believe that I actually had to look up the meaning of the word verklempt? For real, lol.

As far as offering my opinions....although I can't help myself sometimes, I try to keep that to a minimum on any board I am on for a pretty simple reason. I honestly don't consider myself to be of any extra-ordinary intelligence at all. I'm average at best. And, if I'm being truthful, I'm probably giving myself the benefit of the doubt on the average part.

I'll fnish with one little known fact. Most people don't know that Sgt. Joe Friday never actually said, "Just the facts, ma'am' on Dragnet. In the 1953 episode "The Big Lease," Friday tells the main suspect, one Mrs. Banner (Sarah Selby), "All we know are the facts, ma'am." And, as Paul Harvey liked to say, now you know the rest of the story.

After posting this, I headed to the golf course for awhile and I was really hoping that no one had gotten on here and asked who in the hell Mickey Mantle was. @Sirhornsalotwould not have liked that one bit. And I would have been right there with him 🙂
