Administrators TFloss32 Posted May 11 Administrators Report Share Posted May 11 A couple things on Pitt transfer WR Jordan Addison from IT... - Texas is being ultra aggressive in an attempt to get him locked down before he makes any other visits, especially to USC. - he does not have a firm date set to visit USC, it's either this week or "at some point" which is curious considering all the talk that they're the clear frontrunner (my opinion is Addison/USC may be letting things cool off a bit there temporarily due to tampering accusations). - Coach Marion is huge here, and if Addison has concerns about Ewers being unproven, then he's the guy to calm those fears. - Texas has "drastically" improved their chances, and they hope to know something by tomorrow or Thursday. Wayne
2 hours ago, Big Daddy Cane said: I get what you're saying, but you take him. Period. Plenty of balls to go around if you keep drives going. We will have a lot more yards and TDs if our QB lives up to his billing. We may need to win games 55-45, but so be it. My biggest question is do we have a line good enough to give the QB some time. I don’t know the answer to that… but they ain’t blitzing. NEOkHorn

North Texas Golfer
18 hours ago, RickyFlair said: We had 2,600 yards passing last year. Bama had 4,800 and in 2020 they had 4,600. LSU in 2019 5,900. It’s tough to divide up 2,600 yards to multiple players but 5,000 to 6,000 yards would give everyone not named Addison a career year. If we are going to be an elite program it requires a roster where Coaches must find enough touches to keep stars happy. That’s much easier than scheming our one good receiver open or creating opportunities for one dynamic RB. Addison on the team would make Worthy our second best receiver. That’s scary "Addison on the team would make Worthy our second best receiver. That’s scary" When you take into account that PItt threw the ball twice as much as Texas did last year, Addison's and Worthy's stats are actually quite similar. Not to mention that it didn't hurt that Addison had a first round draft choice QB throwing to him. UTfish

When a player is awarded the best receiver in college football and is returning to college football, he is the best receiver anyones team. He may not be the best at the end of next year but he begins the season as the best. North Texas Golfer and longhorn_mig

To make this work you not only have to have lots to offer, but the personality to check your ego at the door and get everyone else to do the same. I think the staff is doing a great job at addressing positions of need. LB still needs some playmakers. NEOkHorn and North Texas Golfer

Worthy is recruiting him hard, so he doesn't seem to have an issue with it. Neyor, Hall and Billingsley came in for the same reason, so pot meet kettle if they have an issue with it. Whittington is injury prone, so the depth is needed.
