So instead of 44 total pts, Texas scores 38. Meanwhile, Florida goes wild and scores 54 pts. Texas ends in 2nd

Florida on the other hand had a much better than expected finish to win the national championship. Texas stumbled a little bit but honestly, with how good Florida finished Texas was likely to be 2nd even if they hit their marks.

The women will end up tied with Stanford for the Capital one cup. 

This is very impressive because the capital one cup gives three times the points for finishes in 7 women's sports and Texas only competes in 4 of those (Stanford all 7).

The other 14 women's sports that are included, Texas competes in 7, Stanford 10.

On the Men's side, we compete in 3/7 of the triple scoring sports and 6/13 of the regular sports. Even in our best seasons, that is hard to overcome.

So I'm assuming that the capital One Cup different than the Director's Cup? I ask because it shows Stanford winning both the men and women's last year which would make them the overall winner. Why do some sports (which ones are they) count as "triple" and others don't?

Yep, it's different. Similar idea but different formula. I think the idea behind having tier A and Tier B sports is to emphasize the sports that are more popular overall (football, basketball, baseball for example) and giving more points for them.

On the men's side, Texas would need very high finishes in baseball, football and basketball in order to have a chance.

It's a done deal. Scores will be released on Thursday but these won't include baseball. Final scores released after CWS wraps up.
