Report: Chris Beard hired as head basketball coach at Texas

Recommended Posts

Heck yea. He lost 13 out of his last 23 games in his third year.

On June 11, 2002, Terry joined Texas as an assistant coach under Rick Barnes. At Texas, Terry helped recruit McDonald's All-American players like Kevin DurantD. J. Augustin, and Tristan Thompson. Texas also made NCAA Tournament runs to the Final Four in 2003 and to the Elite Eight in 2006 and 2008.[1]

This will help

IMHO, Ford is the best basketball player to ever play at Texas. That put back dunk of his against Baylor was mind blowing.

Yo! This is bananas! Jayson Tyson's mother and I are good friends. I was literally just joking with her about him needing to decommit and sign with the good guys. Then I came here and saw this article

Beard is putting together a nice staff. Hopefully he has the same luck finding players to play.

Not many left with Hepa in the portal and only 2 commits at the moment. I could graduate transfer but I don’t think a 5’8” 54 yr old point guard will cut it.  I can still shoot the three though!
Next year will be interesting. I’m ready for the change though.

I know, its concerning. But Beard didn't seem to have a problem bringing talent to Lubbock, Texas. Surely he can at least do as well in Austin.

I'm sure you're still possessing cat-like quickness. lol

With the staff he's put together he'll get the players.

BTW - I'm 57 and at least as quick as a cat as old as I am.

I was just thinking about the roster this morning wondering where we stand. I’m liking the look of it so far. Still need to round it out, especially the frontcourt. Trending toward the look of a good team.

I really thought this year was going to suck due to graduation and attrition. Kudos to Beard and his staff for the work they have done thus far!
