That said, much too early to call this a success or failure. 

But I would agree with the two years with an option for a third. Thats the safe bet. I realize they were trying to make a statement with the five years, but it wasn't necessary IMO.

I think Terry earned the job with his coaching performance in season and in the tournament. Ron Holland and AJ Johnson were two players that seemed bound with Terry and sweetened the decision to hire him. Both gone now.

Holland said Texas is still a top school but we know how rare it is for kids to recommit to a school in these situations. 

Terry deserves a chance after the performance he had last year, but he also should have a short leash if things don't work out well.

Short leash is 3 years minimum or everyone will scream Del Conte didn’t give him a chance. There were lots of people still wanting to give Shaka Smart more time.

Three years, unless it becomes a disaster.

I guess we need a tongue and cheek font. But what I am hoping for is success for the MBB team. When you have 4 defections that seems to douse the exuberance you have for a new hire.

I do think that the way the hiring occurred, the leash can, and should be shorter. 

He earned the job but he wasn't a splashy hire and probably not who CDC goes with otherwise. It was on the court performance that got him the job and if the performance suffers majorly I could see things ending quickly.
