I've tried it, it's very nice.

I am a bourbon guy though I've been known to sip a Sapphire and Tonic from time to time.

If I'm mixing, it's Crown and Diet Coke (sue me I like the taste better)

But mostly I like the small batches with just one ice cube or whiskey stone.

1792

Buffalo Trace

Bluiett

Angel Envy

A new favorite I have discovered, Jefferson's Ocean

Also, the white labeled TX makes for an excellent after dinner sip.

And i can vouch for JoeyWa's collection, had fun sampling one night.

For the Angel Envy, can you detect the port?

That's the next one I'm going to try.  Have tasted the Balcones (loved it) and the 1835 (take it or leave it), saving the Garrison Brothers for awhile.  After tasting the Balcones, I'm going to keep t

It’s very subtle depending on which one you get.
If you’re looking for something unique, High West Yippee Ki Yay has vermouth notes, their Midwinter Night’s Dram is sweeter with more port, but my favorite from High West is the BouRye.

@joeywa knows a little about Devils River. I had a couple of DR drinks a few years ago and it wasn’t bad at all.

If you’re looking for an economical option for your bar as a mixer, it’s not a bad option. There are better ones In that price range to sip on neat.
As for Balcones, the product IMHO was far better with their original master distiller/owner. When he left, the product changed and I’m not as big a fan. Garrisons is (again, just my 2-cents,) overpriced for what it is. I believe it is too young which lends to the whiskey not maturing enough before its bottled. That lends itself to a rather hot product on the palate. I’m not opposed to a 130 or 140 proof bourbon that has some age on it. George T Stagg is in the 129-134-ish range and is one of the best bourbons I have ever had. Have several on the shelf that are in that range that I love.

I'm with you on Garrison's, it's good but nowhere near what I expected after hearing friends rave about it.  I'm glad that I won it...my boss had just about convinced me to spend the $$ to buy a bottle.  "Young" is the perfect description...the flavor's just not as deep or developed.  I'll go with Booker's or Old Forester 1920 for $30 less.

Your collection is pretty damn impressive!!  I love Blade and Bow, I haven't had the chance to buy a bottle of my own yet because I haven't found it at any of the liquor stores that I frequent here in Houston. Do you know the story about the keys?  I've never seen the Little Booker's but if it's anything like big Booker's it's gotta be good.  Old Forester's has slowly become one of my faves so I'm drooling a little at the Birthday Bourbon.  It's almost impossible to find Eagle Rare around here unless you show up on the day they stock it...and that's just the plain ole bottle.  The 17-year...you'd have to be pretty damn lucky.

Funny Eagle Rare story...I have a friend who bought a bottle and put it with the rest of his bourbon in the pantry.  He had a few friends over and put out a cheaper bottle since everyone was a mixer and he wanted to save the good stuff.  One of his friends walks out to the backyard with a big cup of Diet Coke..."Man!!  That Eagle Rare's good stuff".  He'd mixed almost half the bottle with Diet Coke.  My friend learned that it's a good idea to close the pantry door when the good stuff's visible on the shelf.

Very familiar with the Blade & Bow keys story. That bourbon is one of my favorites for the price. Twin Liquors in Austin has it fairly regularly. If you go to bladeandbowwhiskey.com, they have a ‘Where to buy” link and there are several locations in the HTown area that are said to carry it. As a matter of fact, Total Wine on W University has it in stock for for $42.

As for your ER story, it’s good to have your stash well hidden. Haha.

I'm just like you. Some wines taste good enough to drink them on taste alone. But thats about it. Scotch is awful. lol

IMO, people are just wired differently. What tastes good to you or me probably isn't a big deal to them.

Which brings my next question . . . if you're talking about a bad taste or lack of taste, why in the hell are you drinking Diet Dr Pepper? lol I drink mostly water and sweet tea, but enjoy a cold bottle of Coke now and then, and on rare occasion, an ice cold shiner bock.

Sigh!  I hate it when a non-medical person shows me what an idiot I am.  Of course you are right about Diet Dr. Pepper, but I just can't get into drinking water like an intelligent person.  Coffee is another bad habit of mine.  I try to keep fit , even in my advanced age. (I'm 6'2", 198 lbs.) by running a little and working out on the heavy bag.  but it is a struggle - and getting worse.

Well, I'm no saint. The reason I drink so much water and keep a tumbler of ice water with me during the day, is because my doc tells me that my gall stones are caused by dehydration. So I try pretty hard to keep that from happening.

I'm about 5 lbs over the weight I should be at so I've begun a diet. Nothing fancy, just not eating after 6 p.m. I had got back into the gym but two days ago I passed out after choking during a cough. When I came to, my ribs hurt like hell. So now I have a broken rib and have to take it easy. Coughing or sneezing are what I fear now. lol Its pretty painful.

It's not my specialty, but perhaps you might go see an Otolaryngologist (normally called an ENT specialist).  Coughing hard enough to pass out is serious.  Very serious.  You could have caused some throat damage you don't know about.  An Ear, nose and throat doctor might be advisable.

Doc, I was swallowing a cookie when I coughed. So I was choking, cutting of my air.

Let us know how it is! Never had it.

I can't find the Harbinger anywhere but did find it's little brother Harbinger XC and really like it.  It's a little spicy sweet and is very smooth.  It's got a pretty unique flavor that, I'm guessing, is due to the different types of corn that they use in the mash. I'd definitely recommend it.
