MySanAntonio.com Texas WR Collin Johnson available 'for emergency' vs. West Virginia

Recommended Posts

MORGANTWON, W.VA. – If the situation grows dire enough Saturday afternoon, Texas senior receiver Collin Johnson (hamstring) could be used to help avoid an upset against West Virginia at Milan Puskar Stadium.

But Johnson will be available for “emergency only,” per Longhorns coach Tom Herman. The 6-foot-6 wideout has missed two straight games after recording seven receptions for 108 yards and one touchdown in UT’s first two contests.

With Johnson on ice, redshirt freshman Malcolm Epps is expected to make his third consecutive start. Epps stepped up with four receptions for 43 yards in a 48-13 win over Rice, but was limited to one six-yard grab against Oklahoma State.

Sophomore Brennan Eagles (10 receptions, 276 yards, 4 TD) should continue to be a weapon for quarterback Sam Ehlinger and senior John Burt (1 receptions, 18 yards) could see more chances with Johnson on the sideline.

No. 11 Texas (3-1,1-0 Big 12)-West Virginia (3-1, 1-0) will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. central. The game will be broadcast on ABC and available on the WatchESPN app.
