MySanAntonio.com Texas senior WR Collin Johnson ruled out vs. Oklahoma State

Recommended Posts

AUSTIN – As late as Thursday night, Texas coach Tom Herman appeared confident senior receiver Collin Johnson would be available for Saturday’s tilt with Oklahoma State.

Turns out, the hamstring injury that prevented Johnson from playing in last week’s win over Rice had not healed enough to allow him to play against the Cowboys. So Johnson will miss his second straight game and, more importantly, be unavailable for the 12th-ranked Longhorns’ (2-1) Big 12 opener against Oklahoma State (3-0) and its explosive offense.

In two starts this season Johnson recorded seven receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown.

The injury news wasn’t all negative for Texas. Center Zach Shackelford (foot) and linebacker Joseph Ossai (shoulder) are both available and expected to start.

Safeties B.J. Foster (hamstring) and DeMarvion Overshown (back) remain out.
