AUSTIN – Monday morning, LSU coach Ed Orgeron informed local reporters he received an interesting tip from Louisiana Tech, the Longhorns’ Week 1 opponent, ahead of last weekend's game at Royal-Memorial Stadium.

He was informed the visitors’ locker room at DKR was not equipped with air conditioning. With the atmosphere sticky and temperatures hovering around 100 degrees throughout the day, LSU opted to bring some fans to fight the heat.

"First of all, I called Louisiana Tech, and they told us about it," Orgeron said. "So we did some things in the dressing room that were better. It wasn't great, but it was better. At least we had air in there. They didn't have air. We had some blowers in there. I don't think that caused as much as going out there and having to play 93 plays on defense. I think that had a lot to do with it."

Several LSU players cramped up in the second half. Texas coach Tom Herman wasn’t sure whether the Tigers were triggering those stoppages in good faith, since they all came in the midst of extended Longhorns drives.

Monday evening, Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte refuted Oregon’s account of LSU’s locker room accommodations.

“The comment today about lack of air conditioning in our visiting locker room is the first we’ve heard of any issues in that area,” Del Conte said in a statement. “We provide one of the best visitor setups available and are proud of the efforts we put forth in hosting our guests. Our facilities staff did not receive any complaints from either Louisiana Tech or LSU, and we’ve confirmed that our air conditioning in the visiting locker room is in good working order.”
