What Do I Look For In A Client…

·   Open-minded.  Willing to examine and explore.  Not hung up on preconceived notions.

·    Willing to be introspective and comfortable reviewing personal and professional strengths; blind spots; interests; goals; risk-reward; ability and willingness to make a financial commitment; and spousal support.

·    Interested in working with a “coach”.

·    Prepared to LEARN…not to BUY.  Be ready to explore options and alternatives.

·    Willing to move out of her / his comfort zone.

·    Serious about making a time commitment to “the Process”.  The process is not a one-time event, but rather a succession of events which cumulatively provide information critical to making an informed determination.

I never ask or suggest a client to “buy”.  But, I do request clients to be devoted to the process in order to obtain the “right” information needed to make an informed decision.  And, to give herself / himself permission to LEARN.  The process is one of exploration, fact-finding and learning.  Learning about yourself and business options.

Interestingly, the majority of folks who buy a franchise discover a concept which was not on their radar screen when starting the process and in many cases they had never heard of the concept.  By seriously engaging in the process they learned the concept was one which met their goals, objectives, financial requirements and lifestyle goals.

The following paragraphs cover a little information regarding my background, my company, how I became a Franchise Consultant and how I assist my clients:

My Story…By education and work experience I’m a Human Resources guy.  Following my graduation from UT, I worked in Human Resources for 25 years…all in corporate America jobs.  My last corporate position was as Vice President, Human Resources for the country’s largest for-profit test development and publishing company…headquartered  in San Antonio.  After 25 years of corporate employment, like many others, I was tired of corporate America because of the downsizing, rightsizing, mergers, corporate politics, bureaucracy…and the list goes on.  So, I decided to get out.  “The Process” I use to help my clients is basically the same process I personally went through years ago.  I obtained the services of a Franchise Consultant…explored several franchise opportunities…did due diligence on 3 franchises…made my decision and bought a home improvement franchise-Handyman Connection.  I was the original owner of that franchise in San Antonio and operated it for 7 years…it grew from $0 revenue to about $1M annual revenue… I did well financially when I owned the franchise business and did well financially when I sold it.  After owning the business for about 5 years based on my financial situation and my age…I was at a point in my life where I was interested in doing something else…I needed a new challenge.  So, with my wife’s blessing, I sold the franchise.  During that transition, I became aware of this opportunity to be a Franchise Coach / Consultant…which has allowed me to marry or partner my recruiting background with my franchise experience. So, in addition to spending 25 years in corporate America, I have had the opportunity to experience the complete ‘life-cycle’ of business / franchise ownership….working with a franchise consultant…determining my business & lifestyle goals…reviewing franchise options…performing due diligence…selecting & buying a franchise…successfully owning and operating a franchise…exiting the business through an exit strategy.

My consultative coaching company, Franchise Quest is a licensed affiliate of the Business Alliance (BAI) which is the largest affiliation of franchise consultants in the country. Additionally, I’m also a licensed affiliate of the International Professional Franchise Group (IFPG).  As a Franchise Coach / Consultant I assist my clients explore franchise systems throughout the U.S., Canada, as well as other International locations.  I work directly with hundreds of different franchise companies…from small to large and startups to nationally recognized.  These franchise opportunities have various investment ranges and include a multitude of different industries.

My coaching / consultative role is to help my clients identify their goals and needs, and then I conduct a search to identify franchise options that meet their objectives, skills, interests, location and investment range. This service saves them considerable time and effort, and often presents them opportunities that they are not aware of.  For instance, the right business for you may be one that you have never heard of and wouldn’t even guess.

My objective in working with my clients is to assist them with four (4) key goals:

1.    Achieve annual income goals by identifying appropriate business options.

2.    In a business that can build equity and that can eventually be sold (buy, build, sell)…if that is the client’s desire.  Some prefer to transfer business to child(s).  Others may choose to bring in a general manager and transition to a passive ownership role.

3.    To find a business that fits client’s lifestyle, and can maximize her / his skill sets in a business /  industry she / he will enjoy.

4.    And, to have the ability to achieve a nice retirement nest egg when her / his work journey is over.

Please call or email, if you would like to discuss whether franchise ownership is an appropriate business option for you, as well as the process we would use in the exploratory process.

Every year, thousands of people dream of owning a business and are drawn to the independence, flexibility and freedom of being self-employed. The job market as we have known it continues to change, so people are retooling their vision of how they will make a living in the years to come. This is driving people of all ages and career types to pursue self-employment options, including small business ownership as the “new” career of choice. Today, creating your own job has become the new path to job security.

A franchise / business opportunity may not be right for everyone and they are certainly not all created equal, but a good business model can lower the risk factor and accelerate one’s potential for long term success. The key is finding the right match between the franchise / business opportunity model and the owner-operator.

Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, as in what direction you are moving.” Are you allowing your professional life to wander aimlessly, or stand still? Do you dislike your corporate job, but don’t know how to find your real niche in life?

 A window of opportunity won’t open itself…

You desire to be self-employed…

What is preventing you from moving towards that dream?

  **********************************************************************************************

Are you in career transition, or contemplating making a change?  Would you like a "sounding-board"?  As a former Human Resources executive and now a Franchise Coach / Consultant, I have over three (3) decades of assisting folks with career transition.  Plus, I have personally walked down that path a couple times myself.  If you would like to visit about career transition in general, entering self-employment via a franchise or business opportunity and / or UT sports, please call me at your convenience… 888-479-2491.  Or shoot me an email with your phone number and a good day(s) / time(s) to call you.  I will gladly provide complimentary advice and counsel. And, remember, I'm a coach, not a sales person.

Would this scenario be of interest and value to you… a process where you receive assistance to help you better identify your goals, financial requirements, lifestyle needs and what you would like for your work-life to look like; then provided information on self-employment options and guidance on exploring these opportunities within the confines of a supportive, educational and no-obligation environment?

Have a job you don’t like?  Seek other employment > I call that Changing Your Curtains.  Perhaps, you prefer a bolder approach which may provide a new and invigorating work-life.  I refer to that as Changing Your View.  In 2001, I decided to Change My View.  If you are ready… Let’s Talk.  I can help you Change Your View too…
