A LOOK AT THE COUGARS—Houston is coming off a 4-1 week of their own…the Cougars split the double-midweek at Sam Houston State before completing the series sweep of Wichita State over the weekend…the Cougars are led on offense by Jared Triolo’s .364/.419/.481 line while Joe Davis and Cooper Coldiron have driven in 27 runs apiece…on the mound, Carter Henry leads all Cougars relievers with 19 appearances and a 1.07 ERA (4-ER, 33.2-IP).

A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS—Texas is coming off a 4-1 week that included midweek wins over UTRGV and Texas Southern before winning two of three against New Orleans at UFCU Disch-Falk Field…Kody Clemens continues to lead the Texas offense with a .356/.455/.706 line and a Big 12-best 13 homers…Zach Zubia has pushed his average to over .300 for the season…on the mound, Josh Sawyer leads all Texas relievers with 18 appearances on the year while Andy McGuire earned his sixth save of the season on Friday night.

NEXT UP—Texas will head on the road for a three-game Big 12 Conference series at West Virginia…last season, the Longhorns took two-of-three from the Mountaineers.

KODY SHOW CONTINUES—Kody Clemens continues to pace the Longhorns offense…over the weekend, he hit his Big 12-leading 13th homer of the season…earlier this month, Perfect Game/Rawlings and D1Baseball.com each announced their Midseason All-America teams and 2B Kody Clemens was named to the first team on both…USA Baseball also announced Clemens as a member of its Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list…Clemens ranks in the top five in the conference in several offensive categories: home runs (1st, 13), SLG (2nd, .706), total bases (2nd, 113), average (5th, .356), hits (T-5th, 57), RBI (3rd, 46), and BB (T-5th, 30).

VROOM VROOM—Sophomore SS David Hamilton stole his Big 12-leading 26th base of the year over the weekend…he is Longhorns’ first player with at least 26 stolen bases since  Golden Spikes Award finalist Drew Stubbs stole that many in 2005…his 26 bags currently rank T-3rd in the country…he also leads the team with 6 bunt singles on the year and 32 BBs.
