- Ewers was the best of the QBs on the day, including a 60 yard bomb to Worthy.

- Baxter will be a stud, runs hard and continues to impress.

- Offense is coughing the ball up too much right now.

- Hill is the most difficult player to block off of the edge.

- Bledsoe is faster and more athletic than Collins, just not as big.

- Red still in a green jersey due to injury.

- Muhammad was better than he was last week with a forced fumble and a key pass break-up.

Two more notes from IT...

- the source that told them last year that Ewers wouldn't be much better than Card, is now saying he's day in and day out the best QB and expects him to special this year.

- the staff's message to the team this year is they can be special, and not just a conference champion. Expectations are that high.

Game 1 doesn't tell me much.  I expect Texas to win....big.  Win game 2 and the conference championship then Ewers is special.  Until then, he's right above Case McCoy.

That was obviously a very subjective analysis.

Here's how many top 100 players some of these teams have signed in the 4 year period of 2020 to 2023. Note that attrition and transfers not factored in these numbers.

48 Alabama

41 Georgia

33 Ohio State

32 Texas A$M

24 Clemson

22 LSU

20 USC

19 Texas

But your list doesn’t address the portal. We’ve added serious talent thru the portal. Ewers, Watt, Catalonia, AD Mitchell.   A&M seems to lose talent thru the portal.

Isn't it all subjective?

The recruiting rankings you are using were subjective, and then turned into an objective value that you are then using.

The article is free it appears. The list was actually created by Blake Brockermeyer (with the help of some analyst). He created a top 100 college football players list going into the season and it looks like they attempted to attack this list with some legitimate scouting.

Longhorns on the list:

17. Quinn

28. Kelvin Banks

32. Xavier Worthy

38. Jatavion Sanders

46. AD Mitchell

56. Jaylan Ford

Yes, I clearly ackowledged that when I said, "Note that attrition and transfers not factored in these numbers."

Of course, it's all subjective. Some are just more subjective than others 😉

But I also haven't noticed many people using Blake Brockemeyer's rankings when it comes to who is "winning" the recruiting battles.

It's all very subjective, and doesn't seem to include incoming 5 stars.

I think the number of players on each team that were 5 stars, and how many were top 100 would be an interesting indication of available top end talent.

Obviously some top ranked guys fizzle, and some lower ranked players excel, so the incoming rank isn't a perfect indication, but IMHO would be more meaningful.

Just for the record, it's a pretty good list. Looks like it's based on both potential and actual results.
