he served UT athletics well during his tenure on the 40 ACRES....RIP Mr Little

A few years ago, before the game against tcu in Ft Worth, we saw Bill Little and Craig Way at the Ol' Pancake House having breakfast. I said what the heck and decided to pick up heir tab. As they were leaving, Mr Little came to our table and thanked me. He could not have been more gracious. He talked to us for a good 5-10 minutes, but I could have listened to him all day. Pure class. Wonderful representative of the University and just a good, solid human being. RIP Mr Little.

Back in the day when I was in the media, Little was who I had to go through to get press credentials. He was always very nice to me.

From today's TFB practice report. I was pleasantly surprised to see this. Been hearing his name a lot in the past several days.

"*** The first name that was mentioned to me about having a good day was DL Jaray Bledsoe. Surprising to me.

Bledsoe rotated in with the first unit, though spent most of his time with the 2’s and 3’s. Source told me Bledsoe couldn’t be blocked this afternoon and seemingly each time they looked up, Bledsoe was making a play in the backfield."

I got to meet Mr Little when I was still a pre teen, my family friend Cactus Pryor, whose brother Paul was the stadium announcer introduced me...One of my hobbies as a kid was to know where each Longhorn player came from and even to this day every time I go through some of the small TX towns I think of which football legend came from that town. Mr Little put me to the test and took out the press guide to see how many players I knew and their numbers...he was a very very nice man

Overshown was having a good game, but just left the field on a cart. Cowboys said it was a knee injury but the seriousness was not certain. He did walk off the field under his own power.

I personally think it's an ACL. I saw it and although he was making a tackle, it had the "look" of a non-contact injury; which is never good...

Any other scrimmages notes or thoughts?

- Ewers was the best of the QBs on the day, including a 60 yard bomb to Worthy.

- Baxter will be a stud, runs hard and continues to impress.

- Offense is coughing the ball up too much right now.

- Hill is the most difficult player to block off of the edge.

- Bledsoe is faster and more athletic than Collins, just not as big.

- Red still in a green jersey due to injury.

- Muhammad was better than he was last week with a forced fumble and a key pass break-up.

Alfred Collins has also been looking for good this Fall. Sounds like he has the consistency now to go with his flashes of brilliance. He will play inside in 4 down fronts and on the edge in 3 man looks.

Overall the D-line is shaping up nicely. Not the highest of high end talent but a lot of depth that can come at OL in waves.

Interior guys will likely be Collins and Byron Murphy with T'vondre Sweat as the 3rd option. Backed up by guys like Trill Carter, Sydir Mitchell (who will be an unmovable object occupying 2 OL for about 3 snaps at a time) and Aaron Bryant as NT type and Broughton and Bledsoe as DT types.

At end it'll be Barryn Sorrel and Ethan Burke with Justice Finkley as the 3rd guy who can play both spots. Kris Ross, J'mond Tapp and Colton Vasek will work in as subs as will some of the DT guys that can also bounce out to edge in 3 man looks. Billy Walton and Akana are also seen as guys who could develop into situational types over the season.
