You are right. You said he would start. If so he has to better than one of them but not both.

There was a third W that you're not referring to.

Ramonce split time between RB and slot.

I didn't say I'd bench those two and you didn't ask.

Quan was a Freshmen with 16 catches on the year. Shipley did not play until 2006.

The top WRs on the NC team were Billy Pittman and Limas Sweed.

The original debate was talent ( how much) was ob 2005 team A winner they beat the greatest team of all time + heisman winner. Therefore had to be loaded.😀

We have a winner!

I was fortunate enough to be at the Texas vs USC game and while VY was the best player on that field that night, he didn't play USC by himself.

At times, he did.

They had no answer for VY.

That said, we don't win if we don't stop them on 4th and 2. Defense set the whole thing up.

Yes, but you went of on a tangent about players who weren't really playing on that team. Do you know who played on that team, since you've got mixed up already?

ESPN said USC was the greatest team of all time. Wasn't their first or last mistake, either. They gave the Heisman to the wrong player that year.

Geez guys, this ain't that hard, lol.

The 2005 team won the freaking national championship! The 2023 is simply not in that class at this time. And, if you are arguing otherwise, then you are arguing just to be arguing.

The 2023 season has not occurred yet. Trying to compare potential with history seems silly to me.

The chances that this team will end up being better then 2005 are not great, but also non zero.

Tom might not be that well thought of. But he holds the Bowl record for wins at Texas.   4-0. Forgot who but another coach is 1-0 in bowl games

If he had DKR or Mack's personality he would still be coaching there.

Or if he had followed Del Conte’s orders that all teams will remain on the field for the playing of the Eyes of Texas……he would probably still be here.

I’m glad he is gone. 1 for 5 against OU, and no conference titles in 4 years.

Bowl games are ok, but not in the same class as conference games. Especially OU.

NTG, imagine yourself in 2004. Texas beats Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Big step for a program that hadn't won much until then.

Yet, lots of people could see as early as the final second of that game that Texas was going to be loaded in 2005. I didn't hear anyone saying "But they were Rose Bowl Champions!"

No, I don't think this is as easy as your pretending it is. I see us as in a similar position as we were at the end of 2004. We're loaded. Sark has done a better job at accumulating talent than Mack Brown did. Sark has the portal so that's part of the difference. The other I suppose is that talent is across the board, in every single position group. We were still starting Billy Pittman in 2005.

You obviously have me confused with Freddie Mercury 🙂

And, as far as similar positions, we are probably closer to the 2003 team than we are the 2004 team at this point. With the $64,000 question being, does the 2023 team reach the level of the 2004 team or does it exceed that level?

USC and UT were #1 and #2 all season long in 2005. This year's team doesn't have the accolades, but they do have the expectation of a pre-2004 Texas team.
