primal defense
Those that want CS gone and Tom Herman as coach next year has to hope that UT (I mean Charlie) loses at least two out of the next three games. Texas is not going to fire Charlie with eight wins and winning his last five game. He's probably back with seven.. How many wins does Charlie Strong need? Close games will define finish http://www.espn.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/116206/how-many-wins-does-charlie-strong-need-close-games-will-define-finish Sirhornsalot
North Texas Golfer
For me, Perrin's statement that he wants to see an improved program from top to bottom is the critical part of all this discussion. If the program improves from top to bottom, then I'm all for retaining Charlie. If it doesn't, then I all for firing Charlie. The problem with it will be that most people will only look at the final record and not look underneath the surface. However, I still think it's a moot point as I think the "decision" has already been made that Charlie is back. And I'm also highly skeptical that there ever was a question about Charlie being back next year, barring Charlie having a losing record this season. Looks like all Charlie has to do each season is to beat Ks, ISU, and Baylor. Then all is right with the program.
texasdalton
North texas golfer- i agree everyone is looking at the record as the only indicator. When you have a sub 10 win season you need to look further in depth. They are not playing well enough to justify bringing Charlie back. You cant justify the wins when they are against inferior talent and we are either losing or barely winning

It is not far-fetched at all to think that last year's team could or should have been 7-5. This year, with a better team and an easier schedule, the best we can do is beat that by one game. To me, that's not progress.
North Texas Golfer
Let me add a little bit to my last post. Going into the last 4 games here is what had to happen for me to start believe that things were improving. Tech - A win with the outcome no longer in doubt at the end of the 3rd quarter. It kind of felt like that was happening from the 2nd Qtr. on but Texas could not quite put the game away like they should have. WVA - Just win the game, period! Kansas - Win by at least 40-50 points. Starters out of the game by mid 3rd quarter. TCU - Like the Tech game, a win with the outcome no longer in doubt at the end of the 3rd quarter.
