I don't think recognizing it as an asshole tweet is attacking the kid. For the kid, this is part of growing up. He'll make stupid decisions like this because he's young. They all do. But the longer they go around being protected, the longer it will take to learn from those mistakes.

It was an asshole tweet, especially coming on the heels of a great deal of hospitality and good will on the part of the school he just dissed.

IMO, "asshole tweet" was rather light and probably appropriate for the comment in question.

It definitely was. That's 18-year olds for you. So unpredictable. It's better to remain silent than attack the kid, however.

I agree a kids should not be attacked over recruiting stuff. But with all due respect when they say stupid shit at 18 years old they need to be called out for it. We have 18 year old serving in the military getting their asses shot at. Allowing them to say or do anything they want is exactly what has led the country to having a bunch of entitled babies.

As has been said here a million times. Kids now days want to be given success. No one wants to build their own.

So if your program isn't winning you're not going to recruit the best guys

Other than Alabama, which teams in the SEC have been all that successful in the past few years? Last year, every SEC school but Alabama had at least four losses.

The big thing that has been helping the SEC schools is that the SEC as a conference has leadership, while the Big 12 is a hot, steaming pile of garbage. The brightest idea Bowlsby has come up with is to have two teams that already played each other play each other again in a conference championship game that will most likely cloud the conference championship issue rather than settle it.

There is nothing exciting about Big 12 football these days unless you like football games where first one to 50 wins. I personally can't blame kids for wanting to get the heck out of the Big 12 and play for better managed programs in better managed conferences.

And its only going to get worse as the end of the GOR gets closer and closer and it becomes even more painfully evident the guys running the conference are like deer stuck in the headlights without a clue what to do about the problem.

The image of Big 12 football is lacking, the substance of Big 12 football is lacking, and there is nothing in the planning stages for the next four years to change anything. The conference won't even attempt to improve the Big 12 officiating, which is something almost every Big 12 fan mocks and ridicules. And then there is the stench Baylor is going to throw over the conference over the next few years.

I can't blame a kid wanting to play football somewhere for four years, instead of first team to 50 every week for the next four years. Football is a far more exciting game to play.

The best thing for Texas football would be the death of the Big 12 conference.
